Modern Vespa

I'll be in San Francisco for two weeks in January, from the 10th to the 24th, staying part of the time with an old schoolfriend and part with our very own jimc. I'd love to meet some of you Bay Area types while I'm around. (Perhaps it'll be easier if I appoint Jim my social secretary and leave the arrangements to him?)

Husky, will you have access to a moto? If so, get your friend to take/direct you to State Route 1 (PCH) south from Monterey ro San Luis Obispo. One of the all time best motocycle roads anywhere.

Also, Alice's restaurant on Skyine drive, just south of the city.

OK in a car as well, go during the week.

If you need any leather gloves, jackets, etc., go by Johnson Leathers. Alan, the owner, is the greatest. (Don't judge them on their crappy website. He doesn't want to be more busy than he already is.)

If you're interested in military Aviation, there is a pretty good air museum at Travis Air Force Base in Fairfield California which is just a short way up the road from where your compatriot "jimc" is located.
There is an even better Air Force Branch museum at the old Castle AFB in Atwater, near Merced ,CA, not too far from where "jimc" hangs out.

THere's also Hiller Aviation Museum at San Carlos Airport just south of San Francisco International. I've never been there but the website looks interesting.

The South Bay Scooter Posse has a ride planned on January 10 @ 3 p.m. and it's likely the San Francisco Scooter Girls and/or Vespa Club of Los Gatos will have some rides or other get-togethers while you're here. Or, a bit to the north is the Napa Valley Scooter Club.
