I am about to install my newly (re)built 225 motor into my 150 Super for some long distance summer cruising. The carb is a Dellorto VHST 28 on a Malossi manifold. I bought a Malossi extra long throttle cable, but turns out it's for a PX and I cannot get the 'top hat' onto the headset end of the cable that is used by the 60s/70s largeframes.

I guess I need to cut off the barrel nipple, add the top hat, then use a screw or solder nipple. Anyone have a better solution?

What's at the bottom end of the cable? Just thinking you may be able to use a bicycle cable instead.
Another option may be to cut a slot in your top hat to slip it on to the cable from the side.

I just use the long throttle cables from SIP w/ the little nipple at one end... and the other end (that goes to the throttle pulley) is a little, skinny pinch bolt.. (brass w/ a little screw that tightens and keeps it on the cable)

Does that make sense?

The quick connect idea came from the random tricks thread. Lots of stuff in there that when I read it I go "That's a good idea...pretty simple to do...why didn't I think of that?...glad someone posted it!!"
