In all seriousness, as much as I like the retro looks of the new Royal Enfield Interceptor Twin, it seems that early reviews suggest that it rides retro as well. This has me leaning more and more towards the Svartpilen or Sixty2 as my next bike. Lastly, a big thank you to all those who shared their experiences with the new V7. I just love the looks of that one. Maybe I'll get one of those too. |

The Svartpilen is listed on the Vey's Powersports webpage but when I stopped by the El Cajon location on Saturday they said that they didn't know when it's coming out. GP had a nice little 1975 Kawasaki Scrambler 400 that looked very tempting. From what I can tell, Australian dealers are due to get the new Huskies in March, so, I imagine it will be close to that for the U.S. GP seems to always have the best deals so I'm guessing that's where I'll eventually buy one.
Although my Bajaj is built like a tank and designed to traverse over goat roads in India, I like that the Svartpilen looks like it could handle some light trail riding. Vey's had a Suzuki VanVan 200 in stock and I was really tempted but I'm guessing that the Svartpilen will run circles around the VanVan on the streets though. Hopefully it will be worth the wait. In regards to the VanVan, I kept thinking, "what a cool little dirt pig for a California road legal bike!" "That'll do, pig. That'll do."

In regards to the VanVan, I kept thinking, "what a cool little dirt pig for a California road legal bike!" For an experienced off-road rider, the lack of power may be an issue. Power slides with VanVan are limited to loose gravel only.....but on the other hand it handles nicely, in predictable easy way, and you can ride quite fast in rough paths. Also, it's not a highway bike. If I would decide to have two bikes, I'd never get rid of my VanVan200 - love it for small roads, forest paths and lazy city visits. The build quality is also superb. But I'm likely to trade it into a bit more road capable bike in the future in order to be able to ride better with my street bike friends. |

Well, not new, but damn cool anyway: just saw the Guzzi's V7 Rough live.
It's a nice package, kind of collects "ths best of V7" features into one bike. It's not for chrome polisher - type of guys though. Black, matte(ish) and brushed aluminium. |

The shorter wheelbase and more modern technical specifications of the KTM Duke 390 appeal to my intellect while the Yamaha SR400 pulls at my heartstrings. I think I would have to highly modify the SR400 into a Street Tracker to be really satisfied but I could see how that could be a really fun journey. But, wow, does that new Husqvarna 401 Svartpillen appeal to both my head and my heart. It's a retro Street Scrambler in the most futuristic of ways. I want one! The riding position is much more "cafe racer" style than I realized. There was no opportunity to test ride one, but just sit on. All models were very sporty, lean forward -type bikes. |

That's a really nice lookong bike, Can Man.
While visiting the motorcycle exhibition yesterday, I actually stopped also at Honda's booth and admired the latest CB1100EX. They've added spoked wheels among other things, it's simply an astonishing looker and admirable quality on details. They claim even the sound track is now improved with the new pipes. For me, there are only two downsides: the weight and price Being a short legged guy, I just simply hate moving around over 200kg bikes with my toes. Have a gravel yard so my every trip start with moving the bike a bit with my toes - I have a kind of a "slot" for the bike. I can ride straight in, but have to push back and make some zig-zag turns back and forth. Good reminder on the weight thing. If Honda would make a similar CB600, which propably would solve both the weight and price issues, I would run to the shop and get one. |

RRider, thanks for the nice words. I agree that a smaller version of the CB1100 would be perfect. If only Honda would resurrect the CB550 four, now that would be a bike to have. I love my 1100 though. It reminds me of those UJM's of the 80's that I grew up lusting over.

Can Man, I too owned the new CB1100. Sold it when I went in another direction motorcycle-wise.
Honda has sold a new model CB400 in Japan for a number of years, unfortunately never was sold in the U.S. Looks sweet! |

This isn't a real bike. Just a concept design I found on the Net but how cool would it be? Pretty much my perfect bike. Come on Moto Guzzi. Bring back the Le Mans!!

That Suzuki looks great, we get stuck with the low seated, pullback bars, forward controls model S40 here. Genuine still shows the G400 as 2016 model year. And, hopefully I will get me a new Husqvarna Svartpilen (black arrow) when they are released, if the seat height feels lower than it looks on the specs (32").

I love it and will never sell it, it's 400cc, engine based on the Savage LS650 design, but with chain drive and a 5 speed gearbox. Only 30 bhp, but cruises at 65 mph all day, does 70 mpg as well. I love the low seat height and being a small short*rse, the 157kg weight is spot on for me.

I think the S40 had the distinction of being the most excruciatingly uncomfortable ride ever. And a 90 mile range. Looking for gas every 70 Miles was a mixture of exasperation and relief. How I rode it for 20,000 miles I will never know. You have to be tough to be stupid.

I've paid attention to Caballeros....the 125cc version has a Yamaha/Minarelli engine, but 250/500 models a Chinese one....Fantic claims to have a strong involvement in the engine design + it uses also Italian components, but let's see.... Pricing should be very interesting, the 500cc version is closest to my heart - well under 50hp, but also well under 150kg weight! A Fantic from 80's
