As some of you know, I bought a Rover P5B and joined the P5 club, like me they are old farts and have a wicked sense of humor. So here is one old farts post about him trying to get his car welded. Olive is the name of his car, enjoy
I have here a curious tale. On a recent visit to my local parts shop , Lessness parts Sidcup, I told them of my recent purchase ( Olive the p5b coupe) , and enquired if they knew of any good welders who knew old motors. Well, after a few furtive glances between employees, one of them put the closed sign up , while the owner ,Rodger, unhooked the phone, and proceeded to tell me of a local legend - Tom The Weld or Oldie1 Weldobi as he was known amongst the Jedi. Apparently he has worked on cars since the late sixties and is a true Jedi Welder, even mastering the evil Dustbins of Dagenham , truly the force is strong in this one, and it will need to be the help Olive back to health. Let's pray I dont succumb to the dark side before I find him, I was in her yesterday ,after the rain ,and it would appear that rainwater is the gift that keeps on giving as now I have a soggy interior , I'm hoping that the moisture will be soaked up by the exposed seat foam where the seats are split, they definitely need it as the foam crumbles to the touch. But funny thing, as I started the engine all my concerns seemed to fade away and a little voice in my head said ' Will, Will, I am your father Will, come with me to the dark side.. Banger Racing.' I must admit I almost gave in, but then I remembered how she looked the other night , just after the rain, with the correct street lighting and a bit of shine from the rain , oh man alive she's so fine! when she's finished she'll be better , must dash now as voices in my head are telling me to check anti freeze as we had a frost this morning ,
