This week i have been riding little Bea up the Santa Fe ski basin road. Just little jaunts at lunch. Today i decided to go the distance, which should have been about 15 miles. Elevation gain in those 15 miles about 4300 feet. Little Bea got stuck going about 35 mph at mile marker 9 which is approximately 8800 feet in elevation. She would not move past that so with cars behind us i decided to turn around. Little Bea and I loved going downhill. It was a great lunchtime ride!

And a little brisk even at noon. Is it true? Is fall around the corner? Bea goes for her service next month. So maybe she will better handle the altitude then.

So, is Little Bea the LX? Guessing between the altitude and the climb it's a big of a drag on the girl. I remember a bit of a hill around here that had me slowing to 45 and we're maybe 800 above SL. You've got some pretty good climbs out there....but beautiful ones. 8)

Yes, little Bea is the lx. : ) She is cute and can hanlde 50 to 55 on the straightaway but does get sluggish on the hills. I didnt know i needed her until i had her. She is a joy. Poor Roja the 250 is sad to be relegated to the garage. We changed the brake handles and got her aligned. I will probably take her for a spin this weekend but i am liking Bea's lighter weight sooo much.

Is Bea carborated? If so, you may want to get her tuned for altitude. Our Derbi 150 manages 45 climbing at 10,600+ (elevation of our driveway and I've taken it to the top of Hoosier Pass).

We have adjusted the carb a few times now. She will go for annual next month and I hope that make a difference.

Will.she be even slower as the temperatures drop?

I haven't noticed any significant difference. I can get up to 64 on Hwy 9 between Breckenridge and Frisco according to the highway how fast you are going sign.

Bea,
It reminds me of my stay in Minturn, CO in 79/80. I had Ford E-150 straight six engine. The altitude slowed my van down. Maybe the same with your ride. I'm hoping your ride passes with flying colors at her next checkup!
