get ready for the responses......this is not a little gem and by no means anywhere near a museum piece. The corrosion around the horncast seam is the first warning sign. It has hints of an SE Asian restoration. It appears to be a VBB variant that has been upgraded to 10" wheels and most likely an LML motor from what I see. Also some weirdness about the frame near engine bolt on left side. May have been hacked together if it is an Asia resto. You will not get an accurate value without a professional/knowledgeable inspection. It may even be a case the sidecare is worth more than the scooter.
First to get you some more insight. You may want to give use Vin# and Engine # (not the whole number -just omit last 4 digits or so). Reason being just 1965 Vespa 150 is not a model. ⚠️ Last edited by almogavar1969 on UTC; edited 1 time

Bad news i suspect?
I guess that you are about right that it is worth about $60.00 at the most...
Sure looks like a bodge to me, but im sure others will clarify. Muesum quality huh? It sure has museum quality rust around the "horncast", which is not a normal place for rust! There is also some great rust around the beading... I also guess it has less than 200genuine km on the nice rusty speedo? Lets hope you have not brought it! It may be worth finding its not too distant relatives here...https://modernvespa.com/forum/topic70412?highlight=bodgespotting Hi cuz!

I didnt want to give him the heartbreaking news of $60 value yet. Saving grace may be an LML motor (if its new) as that eliminates internal mechanical bodgery. The frame needs thorough inspection for sure. And...if there is hackery - hauling around with that chariot attached is a recipe for disaster.

Looks like a Viet scoot to me ----
I have been there over 10x and love the place - but their scoots are better off staying there ... I know from 1st hand exp. PLEASE do NOT represent this as a "restored" scooter of any quality - let alone"museum" , you were ripped off... sorry to be the bearer of bad news but it seems others are shy atm to say the truth with no sugar coating If indeed it does have a LM engine you are lucky as its most likely not bodged and has value. Please do yourself a favor and read this thread : Bodgespotting Good luck - you need it .. |

of course the OP goes silent once he has realized he has a golden brick.
Every possible option? I dont think VBB or any 60's Vespa had all the options like a BMW. |

It certainly has the hallmarks of a SE Asian bodge and if that is the case then I guess this proves two points, if it has actually been sold for that much.
1. A fool (this particular buyer) and his money are easily parted 2. If people (this particular seller) can make a few quid they are quite happy to rip people off - and seemingly delight in doing so. |

You came here asking people who have experience, knowledge and decades of experience, which you have none. Medication? Sounds like you didnt like the spoonful of truth serum you got!! So basically you are a dishonest thief? Selling a possible death trap to an unknowing fool? You should feel good about yourself |

I feel truly sad for both parties to this (alleged) deal; the buyer for being duped out of their money and the seller for not having the morals to fix the problems with what he had before trying to sell it.

Funny - now someone on Vintage Scooter Community Classifieds on Facebook is posting this>
"So, an old work acquaintance of mine contacted me because he's trying to sell a Vespa. After one look at the thing, I didn't think I was the right guy to help him. I haven't heard if it came from Allvespa, or one of the other bodge outfits... I couldn't sell the scooter for him as I highly suspect that it's an Asian import, but what advice would you give him?" I thought he got $5200 for it?? If we are all so called experts here - then surely the people on FB are not!!! |

That's me (Josh) posting on Facebook. Someone on there made me aware of this thread, which I found interesting... I figured it was a bodge right off, and I hope the guy doesn't screw a buyer. I have advised my buddy that it's best to sell it as a showpiece and specify that it's not intended to be a rider. I like the ideas of selling to a flower shop or some similar arrangement (as a decoration). I have given examples to him of Viet bikes that people paid $3500 for and then spent almost as much repairing all of the problems. I'm going to send him some photos of some of the bodge bikes that I've dealt with in the past, and hopefully they come to a decision that doesn't screw an unaware buyer in the end...

2. If our available scooters don't meet your requirement, you can request for a Custom-Built scooter. It will take 10-15 days to restore the scooter.
Now you can order one with confidence. Wish my resto was finished in 10-15days! That sure fills me with confidence. |

It seems that most (if not all) SEA 'restored' Vespas are largeframes and built in the 1960's. Why do you never see 1970's examples? Were these things built in Italy and exported to SEA and were they exactly the same as VBB, VBC and VLB scoots which were sold in Italy?
