Thank you to the many posters here who, through their experiences, opinions, knowledge and conversations helped me to choose and accessorize my Vespa. Tomorrow it will be 4 weeks since I brought it home.
I am a little ashamed to say that it is a complete indulgence. My commute is 5 km. I have a truck and a car. I really didn't need it. I just wanted it. And it's fabulous. I was nervous at first. Even had the shop walk the scooter around the back so I didn't have to ride into a busy street for my first time on two wheels since 1983. Only 500 klicks so far and still ginger but gaining a little confidence and some comfort.
I intend to ride unless it is icy - got insurance for the full year. There are several good back roads around here that I will explore to see if I want to do some trips. My longest trip with my Bonneville was from Ottawa to Washington D.C. and back to London, Ontario - probably in 1975.
I have added a battery tender, on purchase, then an OEM Medium Windscreen and the rear crash bars. Last night I added a foot rack and a back rack from Didge at Classic Racks. That was even more of an indulgence than the scooter considering how the Canadian dollar and the Pound Sterling have diverged. Ouch. But lovely to look at and should last forever.
Let's see if I can post a pic from the front yard.
And thanks again so much for this site. I will try to contribute when I can.
