I just upgraded to a "new to me" 2009 LX150 with only 950miles or so on it. Looking through the paperwork it had a full 1st service in November 2013 when it had 913 miles.

I'm torn because after 2 years of basically sitting (less than 40 miles) i would understand taking it in for a once over and new oil. But with so little use I could also see not needing to replace the oil. It runs great right now, but I was thinking a little Seafoam in the next two tanks of gas couldn't hurt and then just wait till next summer. What do y'all think?

I replace the oil in my bikes a minimum of once a year regardless of mileage.

That's a long time for oil to sit. Every year is what's recommended, I believe. Also, after Seafoam you really should change the oil, in any vehicle.

Agree with getting new oil in there in any event. Also new lube in the rear axle. Depending on the conditions where it has been sitting for so long, you may have some dry rot or deterioration of the various rubber fuel / vapour lines. You may want to have a close look. That check for deterioration also applies to other things, like the foam air cleaners, and tyres.

Stuff dries out and deteriorates with time, even with little or no use. How much does the oil change (and tune up stuff) really cost in relation to the cost of the scoot?

2009 was a while ago (even if it sounds recent to old timers like me), and rubber bits like tires and belts aren't as supple as they used to be.

Peace of mind is worth a lot more than the tune up costs. If you replace the "old" parts then you can truly ride worry-free.

Change out the fuel lines. The first ones we did just because 4 yrs ago and they crumbled in my hand. They just went again. Sigh. Had to be towed. Might want to change the belt, rollers and tires. Rubber deteriorates over time. It's 6yrs old. A little to old for me but it's your call. If you do it,you'll be good for a while. I hate having to be towed. Enjoy. Love mine. Has 35,000 miles now. Got any pics of yours? Mines Plum. 8)

Six years means old tires. On my own bikes I change out tires after 5 years - regardless of wear. Also, I would flush the brake fluid. It tends to attract some moisture through time. And, in a six year old bike - check all fasteners, hoses, etc for leaks, corrosion, deterioration, and so on.

Look trough everything properly. Because of your question you aren't experienced in scooter maintenance. First time, I would take this to a mechanic. Then buy a service manual, and next time you would be able to do the period maintenances.
