Hola,
Have any of you had experience with using overdrive gears on your GTS's?
I'm considering this modification to reduce highway speed engine RPM's. Given the level of acceleration the GTS has, I'd gladly trade some for less highway RPM's.
Thanks for your feedback!

The malossi upgear made for the GTS 300 also fits the 250. Jess and Glasseye ran them on the cannonball in 2012 but they also had the malossi head and other mods.

you only miss out on performance in the 0-10mph range but it does require quite a bit of work to settle on the right weight rollers. This also requires a good tach, a notebook, and methodical mindset, but it's not difficult.

Thanks oopsclunkthud.
I'll do this mod when the opportunity presents itself.

I had a larger rear tyre on my X8 250ie (same trans and gearing as GTS250) that raised the gearing 7%.

I ran with a stock variator, DP sliders in 13g, and the lightest Polini clutch upgrade springs (can't remember the colour, sorry) used with a Malossi Torsion Control for the clutch set-up. Engine/intake/exhaust was all stock.

It was as Mr Oops has said, although mine still had slightly more accel than stock. Very smooth everywhere, revs sat happily between 6700 and 7000 for a speed of 108kph measured over light rolling hills.
Very nice state of tune.

Thank you ModNRod.
The Quasar engine's power delivery is so linear that changing the gears make logical sense.
