Energiser 386 or equivalent. It's not that common, but I managed to find one in Bunnings.

Would I be right in guessing behind the clear plastic? It doesn't seem to want to pull out?

There's the plastic bung that just pulls out, then plastic washer you quarter turn to get out, then metal spring washer, then battery.

My ET2 took a
Eveready/ Energizer 186.

Is the LX50 different? For some reason I thought they were the same as each other.

Wikipedia says 186 = 386

Ok thinking out loud here,does the speedo need plugging back into bike before clock will come on? Or should it come on soon as battery is fitted?

for all four to be bad sounds off... sure you're putting the batt in + side out?

As soon as the battery is fitted AND touching it's connectors. Once you get the two part (spring then cover) lid it should already be touching the - and + points. Then there's the semi clear plastic plug that covers the hole, but that just seals out moisture, dust, etc

Here's an image from another MV thread;

The metal sprung washer is easily lost! A magnetic tool could be handy here.
But should work ok without if it goes AWOL. Mine's ok without one.

It just gives the battery a push, you could also substitute a fibre washer if you get it right side up and your connections aren't solid.
