I just purchased a new 2015 50cc Primavare with 6 miles on it from a lady who won it a conference in Vagas and had it shipped to the Detroit area. I now have 300 miles on it and the weather is changing in Michigan so it's doubtful I will do the first service till April. The problem is their is only 1 dealer in the Detroit metro area and I will be unable to ride the scooter to this area (distance & location). I will buy the factory recommend oil and axle Lube from Scooterwest. I have been riding Chineese Mopeds for last 6 years and have done all kind of maintenance and repairs, so I am familar with scooters. The only thing that has me concerned with this Vespa is adjusting the 4 valve engine with the shim setup (and no service manuals for this model) instead of the easy screw and nut arrangement used on 2 valve engines. I seen some post that say that most of the time lube changes minor adjustments are all that is required. Because the scooter performs perfect I am not sure that the vales will adjustment at this time. If it is absolutely required I am going to have a problem doing this without tools, manual and shims. By the way the dealer told me the don't stock parts or accesories. Kind of s surprise because I can parts at several locations in the Detroit area. I could use some advice.
Thanks for the information, this was a tremendous help for me. I guess I got some bD info on the Internet. Maintenance will be no problem for me now. What a great forum!
