Hi.

After so many problems with my blue PX I've decided its getting cut down and putting a bike tank on.

Just wondering if anyone has done this and what would be a good tank to fit on a PX frame.

I'd like around 10ltr capacity and flat bottom if possible. I've bought a new 'Streamline seat' which locks at the front, so need a bit of room to fit a 50mm key in, but hopefully not too much metal work to do at the seat end of the tank to make it fit.

Advice appreciated. Thanks.

to have a 10L capacity and still be able to get to the key ont front of the seat

youd pretty much have to strap a jerry can to the legshield instead.

on that link jacko put, theres a link i put of custom bobber tanks, have a look at that

that little honda tank i tried is nice but only 4L

youll need a custom seat if ya want it to look right unless you do the god awful tuck it under the nose ..... mine was about 6l ..... monkey bikes have nice tanks but theyre small ..... if you want 10l youll have to have something short n fat built ......
doubt anything would work n look nice with that streamline seat unless you dont lock it ..... my seat opened backwards

Tank conundrum....
THE STORY -
The engine was running great after the PM Tuning rebuild. Everything I'd hoped for.
However, on the road I found I could only realistically use 3 quarters of the standard tank because when the tank got low, it wouldn't gravity feed up to the big card. Couple of times even cutting out. I was only getting 40ish miles before fuel stops. Carrying a jerry can around.

Listened to advice and fitted a large capacity tank under the seat with a vacuum pump. Had a lot of trouble getting that set up properly but eventually seemed to cure it for a while.

Then the pump failed when I was going off the clock one day. Looks like had some other issues too, but anyway - another heat sieze.
So no more pumps or anything.

Plan to change the style - cut down and the idea of the bike tank is that I should be able to gravity feed the whole tank and get a good range with no need for any pumps that can fail. Thats why I want a decent capacity.
Once all the frame work is done I want it back at PM to sort the engine again, might go for reed valve this time but not sure.

I have friends who are very good welders / fabricators who can shape the bottom end of the tank to fit around the seat lock - I have my idea of what I want it to be like.
Just looking for a suitable tank.
And no, its not going extreme where the seat is cut down into the frame. Thats because I intend to alter the big 11ltr tank under the seat to make it into a hidden glove box. Mate is going to fabricate a lid and fastening / hinge system.
Photo of new seat. I'm keeping the Baracuta theme btw. The new seat will have the Baracuta logo embroidered on the back.
