Hi friends,

I noticed a peculiar noise today when I was riding today. I hear a quick grinding noise, and feel a slight shutter when I first start out at 0mph/kph and begin accelerating. Everything is perfectly fine after that.

I'm wondering what could be possible causes? I'm riding a 2015 Primavera with about 5,000 mileage. Has anybody experienced this before?

Cheers,

John

It sounds like dust has accumulated in the clutch bell. You can blow it out with compressed air.
She's growling at me!

Thanks Hachi! I tried to google this and didn't find that result. I'll give this a go and see how it works. I should probably own some compressed air...

Hopefully, that's what is going on.

I found that simply blowing the dust out didn't work for me. I always pull the transmission cover of and scuff up the inside of the clutch bell with 180 grit sandpaper.

+1 on the sandpaper. That should help.

Heh, it comes up here from time to time. There's an entry in the Wiki:
FAQ: Shudder, graunching noise on take-off? Sealion?

I doodled this a month or two back while procrastinating about designs for the ten year anniversary...

5K, sounds like you need a trans service.

pull the cover and take it all apart, inspect the components, blow out the dust, service the clutch friction surfaces. you're kind of in the realm of possibly needing a belt & rollers, but you could be okay with just blowing everything out really well and continuing on.

best,
