For 2012 CBR I traveled over 7,000 miles to run and about 9,000 return. I'm glad that it will only be hundreds to the 2016 start!

Air miles don't count as much. Their handicap is 178.326589-113. So you gained on that rat scooter but lost miles in the air, unless, that is, they were coach miles. Coach miles are so hard to do, 1 coach mile equals 4 scooter miles

Day 8 must be passing near Beartooth Pass to be so high. Sure is looking good.
Of course getting registered is the prime objective.

Those western legs will have an additional challenge for carburetor scoots incorporating re-jetting decisions with the elevation profiles. Time to start planning

My GT is carbureted. I have been to 12,000 feet and lost a bit of power, going uphill is a pain, but those downhill stretches are a blast!

Good point. The GT is probably a little less altitude sensitive than a "classic" 2T though. For half of the profile gravity will be our friend in any event.

Is Mukilteo, Washington the definite ending point? If so, I'd love to meet everyone at the end. I live <15 miles from Mukilteo.

I may do just that. Maybe even pour a small sample of the Atlantic in the Pacific. Well, maybe not. It might cause some untoward chemical reaction.

The start is right on the Atlantic Ocean. No reason not to dip a wheel into that. And there is a boat ramp at the finish. Wheel dipping should be the thing to do there as well.

Well it was Ramallah by car to Tel Aviv, air Tel Aviv to NY to Fort Lauderdale, CBR..a stop at the Grand Canyon then I had to bail out in Flagstaff AZ air to Pheonix, Phoenix to Philly, Philly to Tel Aviv and back to Ramallah for work.

And yeah...since I was working for the Feds all the air miles were coach!

Even though I live right near the Atlantic I might grab a small Start and End bottle of water...not like I have enough junk around the house!

The two things that are crucial on a two stroke during long extended descents are to keep feeding it gas, or it doesn't get any oil and burns up, and stop and rejet, even though it's running faster than ever, once you get down again. It's hard to stop and change out the jets when you're making great time.

I have a trick for long descents on a 2T premix...but maybe I should wait until I tell it

Thanks to everyone who participated, but the game's up. I told Bill what it really is. It's a 218 Malossi. It's going to be pretty similar to the one in my GT, but it will have the Malossi Primary Drive instead of the Polini and Malossi Pipe instead of the PM Tuning (for now). I'm not sure if I'm going with the CVT FR4 Variator I used on the 2014 Cannonball or a fresh Malossi variator. There are advantages to both.

Going to have to wait until 2018.

A scooter has been offered ( thank you kind person ) but at a conservative estimate I think I'd need around $5000 to cover the cost coming from the UK and all that.

For whatever the reason, if you can't get away for the entire time, but want to take part, join us on this epic adventure.
We are looking for support drivers for various legs of the 2016 Scooter Cannonball.
You can bring your own scooter, load it in our truck, drive support for us on one, two, or more legs, then ride your scooter back home. Join us for as many legs as you want or have time for.

The ride is out of touch for me this year but I'd love to drive support.

Sorry Bill, but Christie and I went for a ride today and she had no trouble keeping up with me. And I'm beta testing GT218 v2.0, which is supposed to be faster than the one you met in North Carolina and Georgia.

No problem here. I would like to think I can win if all goes perfectly, but riding to the finish line is my mission this time.

I sent in my registration monies this morning!
