Modern Vespa

Now I know this is a Vespa forum (the clue is in the name!) but can anyone tell me what happened to the Lambretta LN125?

Back in 2011 it was all over the press - and I mean mainstream press and newspapers - not just scootering/bike press. There was a lot of buzz and dealers shouting from the rooftops that they had the new Lambretta in stock.

I then had a few years away from the scooter scene and returned earlier this year to find that the new Lambretta has disappeared entirely. What happened? Safety recall? Legal issues? I would be interested to hear.

Lambretta Motolife Italia SpA announced the scooter while their application for a trademark for the product name "Lambretta" was still being considered by the EU trademarks office. The requested application was ultimately denied. Thus, they could not put a "Lambretta" on the market.

IIRC, the rights to use the trademark "Lambretta" are a pretty confused issue. Google "Lambretta Trademark" and you will see what I mean.

I picked up a 'Lambretta' LS50 cheap. 2015 registered but it is basically a Chinese Scooter. Reliable little beast though.

So is that an 'official' Lambretta then Wally? I haven't heard of the LS50 before...

Funny eh, the plastic "Lambretta" that at least tilts it's cap towards the Lambretta's of old isn't a Lambretta but the plastic fantastic that looks like an abomination is a "Lambretta"

It does look like another cheap, crappy Chinese scooter. No offence Wally.

It is, if I remember correctly, a re-badged Adly, reportedly one of the top tier Chinascoots.
