Hi,

I have been restoring a 1982 PX125e.

I bought a p200 clutch (newfen). With the idea of fitting it, I have read that it should fit with a couple of modifications, but I went to do a test fit and it won't even go on the crank shaft.... it seems way too tight and I don't want to force it.

Anyone got any ideas? Sorry if this is a really stupid question but I am learning as I go along.

I got the bigger clutch as I have a 177 polini kit, exhaust, bigger carb etc.

Thanks Adam

Anyone? Trying to decide what to do... maybe send it back and get a px125 clutch then put stonger springs in it.

a 23 tooth 200 clutch will not mesh with the 68 or 67 tooth christmas trees used in 125 and 150 engines. there are larger 200 style clutches available with 21 and 22 tooth clutches to fit.

Something's not right
Saw your thread and thought they would be the same diameter, but wasn't positive. I had a chance today to check and found they should both be the SAME diameter, nominally 15mm, crankshaft and clutch bore. If you got the right clutch w/ 21 or 22 teeth it should work as Rob has pointed out.

I was able to slide a 6 spring 125/150 clutch on a P200 crank and likewise a 7 spring P200 clutch on the remnants of a 150 crank w/o any problem. Perhaps there are burrs on the end of the bore in the new clutch you need to dress down? If you have a pair of digital calipers, you could measure if that's not it.

Also you'll need a P200 clutch cover or need to modify your stock cover by grinding down an internal rib that will interfere with the larger 7 spring clutch.

thanks for the replies! Really helpful. I am going to have a look today and I will see if I can get it to work. (I have the clutch with 22 teeth)

if you have the proper 22 tooth version, you are probably hitting the case rib that is at 12:00 if you look at the clutch hole. grab it with a pair of vice grips, and snap it off. you can get a clean break, and you don't have to attack it with a dremil and fill your engine case with aluminum shavings.

you'll then have to dremil or grind down the corresponding rib on your clutch cover.
