Hi guys a kind chap sent me measurements for the px inlets
Quote:
just pulled the carb off mine and Ive a set of old cases, new px has a larger inlet

new vespa px inlet opening = 20mm wide 33mm long

old 80s px inlet opening = 20mm wide 26mm long

What are the ramifications of the inlet difference? he suggested

replace the cat exhaust, stator, cdi with standard pre euro parts and you might be better off than using the old engines

dude,
stop the BS.
Get a Sport/Clubman exhaust, upjet and youll get your extra 1hp or whatever and maybe a little extra pep. Stop wasting bandwidth with building a euro 3 PX125. If youre gonna build a motor - then build something proper.
Its like clapping with one hand about now.

i don't get proper ?is that your interpretation of proper, if i built a motor with identical bhp without some dreadful tin can on the back ,what's the difference ? why this need to turn a little agricultural 2stoke into a poor man's lc ,the px inhabits a different space for me ,i ask questions that are pertinent to my build, its not a crime to want a quiet smooth reliable un molested,de restricted px

my question was:What are the ramifications of the inlet difference?for me its an interesting technical question? i'm interested i want to learn.................I read posts on vintage vespa maintenance that have little relevance to my px but are informative and interesting,if my questions were should i put a goat on my facebook pages i would understand your bandwidth jibe?

I'm not telling you to build a tuned motor. Im suggesting building a stock 200 while you are at it. It will cost you the same and take the same energy and yield a better result. The 200 will be just as quiet, perhaps smoother and of course more power.

Proper means something worthwhile will balls.

Bandwidth = you're wasting al gores internets space going in circles about a building a stock p125 motor to replace another stock motor.
Questions are great, but I've never in all my years seen anyone go on about a damned P125 motor.
But in the end - don't forget the cotter pin and everything will be alright !

Yes stop nit picking. It doesn't mean shit unless youeadure rotory pad size of intake.

You would be better off just building something that you can call your own than measuring bees dicks.

That's the idea isn't it

exactly - measuring bee's dicks! Great analogy. Why have a Bee's dick when you can have a Wasp's dick !

yup,200 that's probably the way to go,partly because of the consistency of the parts ,my mate had an early px
and he liked the idea of rekindling his youth ,just been chatting and too may variables with the evolution of the 125,the trouble is "with balls" doesn't in my head really apply to smaller engines,i love mechanical "shit"

the px 125 is as valid as my R1 in the right context ,one of the things i really like about the vespa mentality is you guys take a little agricultural runabout and tune the life out of it lol but its still a little alien to me ,i,m from a bike background and still no totally comfortable with the riding position and having ridden a tuned px125 it feels utter madness to ride over 50mph but i'm starting to get it lol

i know i meander and am a little pedantic but i do listen and appreciate what you guys say and i do absorb it

i now have enough for
the next twenty years lol
