Hi

I am new to forum and a new Vespa owner - This morning I flew to Kalgoorlie, Western Australia to collect my GTV 300i.e. vie della mona with just 400 kms on the clock. I rode it hone to Perth - 600 kms - today too. BUT ...

Loved the ride and the Vespa, but I found the twin seat arrangement not suitable for my size - 6ft.

So I am researching options though wreckers - will a 250gt seat fit? What other options?

Thanks

I just push back and sit on the on the seam between the two. After a few seconds I can even tell anymore.

Hello and Welcome to the Forum!

Here are a few links to get you thinking ... others may chime in soon.

GTV seat mod: Anyone done one?

GTS Mono seat ? Do you suggest it ?

Welcome to the madness of endless modifications! Pictures of the scoot or it didn't happen! Razz emoticon

I love the look of that seat.
Is it possible to unbolt the actual saddle(s) and reconnect it/them further to the rear, or raised up a tad?

Standard GTS 300 seat works as a great replacement. I'm 6'2" and this change helped increase the comfort of my GTV.

I tried all the suggested mods! Only marginally better results. I would agree with Cottonpatch. The best solution is to get a GTS seat. I ordered a brown one with matching top case pad from Scooter West.

GTS seat transplant done on my 2007 250 with no problems at all. Bought the scooter new and it's been on it ever since. Two bolts.....

The seat mod as linked by Big Boys Mother is the way to go, when i bought my 125 last year i hated the riding position ( im also 6 foot ) and rode round on it misserably for a month wondering why i bought it, saw the mod and carried out my own mod which gives the same results. this tips the front of the seat up and makes you sit naturally where you think you should be and strangely makes it feel like you have stretched the scoot as well.
i also fitted one of those cable locks that clips to your bar ends at a later date and this also gives a couple more mm lift, result.
I think the leather saddles are what makes the GTV and fitting a normal seat takes away what the GTV is all about.

I would agree, the GTV seat contributes to its retro look.

my GTV
I was riding a Yamaha Majesty and the prior owner modified the seat and it really was uncomfortable. I felt like I was sliding forward all the time. So with that in mind, my GTV with saddle seat feels awesome. Maybe someday I would switch it out for a one seat conversion but I agree with the posters that it does detract from the retro look of it. I am 6'2 so a big dude.

Anthony, yes a GTS seat is an easy two-bolt replacement. I have one as a spare for trips of more than a few hours. 1/2" or 3/4" spacers on the front seat mount bolts can raise the front of the seat and may make it more comfortable for you. It worked for me, and I'm almost 6' tall with a long 32" inseam and somewhat short torso. Over time, I have gotten used to the GTV seating position. Being positioned slightly forward now seems comfortable to me, especially since I've learned to relax my shoulders and dropped my elbows so that my forearms are horizontal.
(I'm going to sere if I can find that spacer installation link for you.)
