Do many of you have a selection of helmets that you use?
I'm debating getting a second one in white as I currently have a black one.

I have 4.
1. A Vespa portofino green one which I bought to go with my 2008 GTV 125. 2. An Urban Moto helmet, also in green. 3. A Caberg Downtown in black matt. 4. A Caberg Hyper X Modular in black gloss I have to confess that I was in Fowlers, Bristol today looking at a HJC IS Max-II in white but am holding off buying (at the moment). somerset |

I only have my Vespa open face helmet (below) at the moment, which I'm cool with for riding my slow 50L on slow quiet roads. But will soon be buying a proper full face helmet for faster riding on faster busier roads. Still keeping the open face helmet for pottering around on sunny days though

As my wife will point out to you, I have about three more helmets than I have heads.
![]() Currently I have a white Nolan modular, two Scorpion full-face in yellow and red/white/blue, and a yellow Scorpion 3/4 with face shield. Add to that if you wish a bicycle helmet I just picked up. |

Yes, I have 5. All open face.
I can't stop looking at the roof boxer v8 bond at the moment though. Like I need another lid! https://www.chromeburner.nl/motorhelmen/helmen-merken/roof/roof-boxer-v8-bond-white-black[/url] |

But with the colder weather I stuck the pinlock in and it's a massive let down as the top of the pinlock sits halfway in eyesight blocking vision. So i'm now looking for a replacement. |

I have lost count. I have at least two for each bike, one must be a serve fashion. I have CHIPS (half helmets) 3/4, Full face (old style) as well as a few Modular Helmets. I do mix and match (to some extent) but one needs the "right" helmet and "right" jacket for ones bike. Being old and around for awhile I can indulge myself. However, often the choice takes into account just how cold (or warm) it is. None are "Skid" lids, even if I choose a Half helmet, it has to meet certain protective standards. It's a choice but I always wear a Helmet, it's my choice. Mind you 20 years in an ER can shape your choice.

@ Rusty Rope.
Many thanks for that information. I had already decided to do without the pinlock as I am not a bad weather rider and didn't feel I needed one. Your comment has made me feel better as I just might have bought one with regardless. Good to hear that pinlock apart you have been happy with the helmet. somerset |

Still using my trainer helmet of a year and a half ago. Would like a different one for summer, at least. This is an excellent winter helmet, has pin lock with anti-fog shield, breath guard and chin curtain. No fog! 5 adjustable vents. Anyway, I would like a 3/4 that has a nice euro look.

Re: How many crash helmets...
lx125man wrote: Do many of you have a selection of helmets that you use? I'm debating getting a second one in white as I currently have a black one. 1. Main helmet, Vemar, very good lid but will likely be replacing this Christmas due to age. 2. Dirt helmet, Fox V3 Carbon. Again, a very good helmet, carbon fiber, etc. 3. "Junk" helmet. Old HJC that I can toss on when I scoot at events where it's mostly spectating, but you still need a lid, like Barber Motorsports Park, Road Atlanta, etc. If it's stolen, no big deal. It's old and the padding shows a lot of wear, but the shell is intact and the eps inside isn't crushed or disintegrating. It'll be good for a 25-30 mph fall, which is all you can really do at those places at best. I could see having a flip or some other type helmet if that suited your style. I've just never tried a flip that I liked enough to buy, but that's a personal preference. I'm clearly interested in the concept enough to try them. Remember that helmets deteriorate just sitting around, and how you store them impacts their useful life. Get one really good helmet and you'll likely be happier with the fit and comfort of it. The materials inside are better, the padding is removable and has different thicknesses to adjust the fit and alleviate pressure points, and the venting and noise is often better. Shield optics are usually better, longer, than in cut rate lids, too. |

Vespa 3/4 Helmet and a Bell Custom 500
Both of my Helmets are 3/4 Helmets. The Vespa is flat black. It's a bit rounder and makes me look like a giant mushroom. The Bell Custom 500 is gloss white and slim to my head and makes me more sleek. I really like both helmets so i'd recommend you check out a bunch before you decide on what you like.

Had four...
... now only two.
I got two open face Vespa branded helmets with my first Vespa, which followed the bike when I sold it. I had bought a black Nolan N102 modular within weeks of buying that Vespa LX150. About two years ago I bought a black Nolan N104 modular bringing my collection to two. I equipped both Nolans with Sena SMH10 bluetooth headsets which I love, love, love. The reason I choose Nolan modulars is that in the UK / EU more stringent crash tests, the Nolans are the only modular that stays closed 100% of the time. |

I have two Arai Signet-Q helmets, a Shoei X-11, an Arai SZ-Ram 3/4th, a Fulmer V2 3/4th, and a Harley 1/2-helmet. Mrs. Lawdog has so many Arai open-face helmets that I'm afraid to inquire......

I have two, a 3/4 that I wear and a 1/2 that I don't...
The 1/2 helmet was given to me when I first got my 50cc I've kept it as a 'spare' for a pillion at which time they'd wear the 3/4 and I'd wear the 1/2, since I don't have a regular pillion the point is moot. Since both helmets are getting on in age, I'll soon be getting a new 3/4 thus upping my collection to three. |

After hitting a wall trying to find a decent modular helmet that my budget could manage, I wound up with HJC's CL-17, comfy, rated pretty well (DOT and Snell 2010), reasonably light, Pinlock-ready, and even easy on the eyes.
I am thinking about getting a decent 3/4 helmet, serving as both an occasional alternate to the HJC, but also handy for pillion duty. Lots of good choices, I've noticed. ![]() No such thing as "overkill" in this department.

Holy cow! We are moving to a new house in three weeks. So today I'm in the garage packing up. Tucked away on a top shelf I find 4 more helmets! Add these to the 9 in the photo above One is brand new in the box. One size too big for my head so I've never worn it.
