I heard a Vespa mechanic talking about how he could change the oil in a 2012 LX150ie without taking off the tire OR the exhaust. Is that possible or was this guy just blowing smoke?

Thanks...

Nope easy to do. I prop the bike against the garage door rail and secure it with bungee cords. The center stand is left up. A catch pan can be slid in place to catch the oil.

Would it be too much trouble to list the steps for the oil change? Or perhaps post pictures or a video of how it's done?

Thanks in advance.

Well don't have pictures, although go to youtube there are several choices. It's easy, take out the drain plug, drain into some sort of pan. Take out the oil filter replace. Now this is where it gets tricky, you coat the little rubber ring on the oil filter with oil. Dab your finger in and run it around the top. For about $20 you can get a little suction thing it will take out about 85% of the oil, then just do it. Trust me, I'm like the worst wrencher on the planet and I can do it.

This bottom one from "Robot" covers much, much more.......

It' easy to skip the "LiguiVac" just more oil drains. I have one of them Vacs, just was too lazy to use it. Nerd emoticon
