On a serious note trying to not only pick the clever from the crass ,and then calculate the agenda of the person thats giving the advice, makes it doubly difficult ,perfect example my first xs650 was unfortunate to fall into the hands of an idiot that bolted on shiny crap, with no consideration for the impact to other systems ,cheap pods , jets, pipes etc this ain't pick and mix , piaggio v man in shed with adjustable ...........................on the xs Carb kits standard, standard airbox air filter, carb sync nothing clever the bike then ran like a dream!................................................ a real simple 2 stroke question premix v auto 1:always premix new a man that had a friend that overheard a man in the pub ,saying his bike seized with auto.. 2:Never had or heard of an auto failing and at higher rev,s the pump increases the oil mix 3:premix always, i can get a more accurate measurement with my grannys milk jug than any oil pump can 4: Its not that simple, its dependant on altitude and orientation of the bike viscosity ,shelf life and manufacturer ................... george befuddled |

We can start a new thread to discuss more, if you'd like - I think poor scooterrorist's thread has been hijacked enough (by my own - albeit well intentioned - posts, among others) |

Hi mate ,don't know if one can workout duration of the transfer port using the dimensions of the inlet port?
this is off the uk forum i posted an inlet size question and these are the responses scroll down for pictures hope its useful http://vespa.proboards.com/thread/5288/confirm-smaller-inlet-port-transfer and as you seem to know all about this Question:how does the size and duration of the inlet port /transfer port impact on the exhaust port, does more fuel mix mean longer exhaust(wave) larger for the charge to come back https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Arbeitsweise_Zweitakt.gif thanks for the help keen to learn george |

Hi sorry was posting a link for scooterrorist,
Quote: It's a bit of a pipe dream, unfortunately. We have a wiki for dry knowledge to just be typed out. I don't think NSMers use it much at all. But it's there. But this forum is 95% tech discussion. http://www.xs650.com/tech.php purely for technical mechanical stuff ,i understand the forums supposed to be fun and informative but the nature of vespa ,with stickers lights and mirrors bolt on chrome mod music etc is not just about the bikes there are various sub cultures all within the community,to be honest i,m not sure when i get a response if its from someone thats revving a bike to destruction or gleefully counting the times they've broken down ......or a technical genius from piaggio..............or someone just taking the piss......... I have realised and i,m sure we all know a lot of the informed info is sent via private messages and a big thanks guys, just seems a shame that the whole forum cant benefit from unbiased factual correct information ,we have some really smart innovative people on the forum george |

George, for scooterrorist's sake, let's move this to this thread: Regardring idea of technical-only subforum
I think he's sufficiently clarified what information he wants to see in this thread. How much of it he will get, I can't say, but let's let it be and hope people can offer the numbers he is looking for |
