I reckon we can fit both in. Most of you will be passing through Thetford to get to Flixton anyway. The only exception being Matt, who I think is coming from P'boro way IIRC?

Matt, no problem if you want to meet up in Norwich if it's easier for you and we can ride down to Thetford together. Having said that though if you're heading a16/a47 you may want to head to Thetford via King's Lynn? Offer stands though, mate.

So, we need to consider practicalities. Flixton museum will take a maximum of two hours to have a look around, not at all sure about the Dad's Army one? Mutts, any idea what it's like? We also need to fit lunch in.

So how about meet at Thetford in the morning. Do the Dad's Army museum, then head up toward Flixton stopping for lunch on the way. Do Flixton then a ride back down toward Thetford with maybe another stop for a quick bite? Sound like a plan?

As the saying goes, 'have scooter, will travel'

I'm coming from Peterborough, my usual route into Norfolk is A47 so I can divert via Thetford (A1065 at Swaffham) on the journey out or on the way back home, happy with either.

I'm riding from Rushden in East Northants, and Pepy from Huntingdon, so could meet on the ride in somewhere. Might be able to squeeze in the Desert Rats Cromwell tank memorial for a quick photo stop that way too.

Talking of skok stickers, is it remitted to attach them to vehicles other than scooters?

You could probably get away with that - the non official non club sticker doesn't have SC on it after all....

Doh, I didn't check, thought it was just Donkei at the top of the roundel and Skok at the bottom.. Facepalm emoticon

Well as we have no rules no one can say but I guess you could stick one on a car, but on another two wheels that's not a scooter... well....

Skimminent
Evening All,

AWB and Myself met up for a most civilised cappacino this afternoon and started to firm up plans for the 8th.

There's a plan A, and a Plan B depending on the Dad's Army thing.

Plan A

Meet at the McDonald's in Thetford for 9am Postcode is IP24 3QL
We can have a spot of breakfast there and then move on to the DAM at 10am.

I reckon DAM will be an hour at the most. so leave there at 11am (ish) to head to Flixton (NR35 1NZ). That's about an hours ride. We can either blat along the B1066 (which is supposed to be a really good biker's route) or if we've 125's with us we can take the scenic route and have a trundle to Flixton We'll decide on the morning.

Flixton museum will take a couple of hours to get around so around 2pm we'll head for Norwich to find somewhere to eat.

There's a couple of half decent smokehouses for omnivores and plenty of vegetarian options. Or if the hivemind decides on Pizza/Italian we could head for Tombland (Norwich Cathedral) there's a good Zizi's there that does those ridiculously huge rectangular pizza and some good calamari too.

Plan B is the above, without the Dad's Army Museum which will lead to a more relaxed vibe to the day as we're not trying to fit in two destinations.

Mutts Nutts Racing will hopefully know by Thursday if the DAM will open up for us.

Could peeps let me know what sort of food they fancy so that we can start thinking about venues and making arrangements.

Cheers

Rad.

Well done that man.
My turn for an early start instead of you guys then - need to be away about 7am to make the Thetford RV. It'll be similar for the Londoners I think, about 2 hours ish - they might appreciate a slightly later RV?
I'm pretty relaxed on food, English, oub grub, or I do like a nice Italian, pizza or maybe something a bit more...er...exotic

London to Thetford... An hour and a half max. It takes just over 2 hours for me to go Norwich to Romford. So 9am isn't too bad. If we don't do Dad's Army then timings can relax a bit.

We can fix up a meet point for us that fits both our routes - Brampton Hut? Or you suggest as you know the patch - I've got to come close to you anyway. Think MattScoots is Peterborough way if he wants to drop down the A1 to meet too?

Yep I'm in Peterborough so can ride south to meet you chaps, are you going via the A14 and up? From Peterborough I could also do A47 then drop down.
