I think I've hit the wall with my wiring and need some wise advice.

I have a smallframe that has installed a Malossi Vespatronic ignition and a Primavera loom. I've got some issues lining the junction box up and I'm looking for some advice for dummies.

Here's what I've done: My questions are:
How do I set up the junction box? I'm guessing at the moment. The colours don't match up. I've attached the picture from the Malossi manual, which is different to what I have in front of me. Coming out of the engine side I have 4 spade connectors. Black, Yellow, Tan and Red. Coming out of the loom I have yellow, blue, red, green and black (grabor wiring diagram that came with the loom attached) I've also attached a pic of what it looks like.
Looking at the Beedspeed diagram it looks like there's a modification that need to happen to the rear brake switch. How does this work?
Is there anything else I'm missing? Any tips? I can't seem to find a definitive guide anywhere.

Damn wiring!
I went thru this a few weeks ago.
Ode to Speedy - damn these expensive shopping trolleys! (Page 4)
The wiring diag is not much help... But heres a few more diagrams i found.

On the Mille I was lucky enough to meet Tino, who designed the VespaTronic (yet was riding a Lambretta)... So learnt a bit about them, & my one lasted & seems 'ok' overall (needs some tweaking still).

Where in Melb are you? Im based in Murrumbeena, so may be able to advise/assist.
Remember the YELLOW & (from memory) 3 from REG are joined, else all the bulbs blow (i did just that, as ran off Yellow only).

Thanks! This is helpful esp. The first diagram. I got it going (sort of). I think the earth in the brake switch was causing issues. The rear and front lights work when it's unplugged. The switch doesn't work though. I'm in Bendigo, so a bit far to drop in. Thanks though. I was thinking of getting Derek at Scooterlabs to have a look if it gets too hard. I'll have another go Friday after work (with a few Melbourne's)

I did not end up fitting the brake light, but will look over the weekend & see how that fits in to the scheme of things . It could be to do with the switch being N/O rather than N/C... I've done this mod before

Now I've got the brake light switch working and now nothing else!

Sweet... Then isolate the brake light from the rest of the circuit, then once everything else works see what happens when you touch the brake wires, & when they are off.

Hey! I didn't realise it was you! Are you going to the swap meet?
The motor is awesome btw thanks to Rolf. My wiring is another story I'm pulling it apart tomorrow to try and trace what I think is a bad earth I reckon.

still cant get to the bottom of the wiring problem. brake light is working beautifully though. Some finds at the swap meet. Nothing for me though. there was a bajaj for $350. too many weld marks to even be a paddock bike. sold for $500. go figure. there was a nice NSU prima. the bloke wanted $1750, compression good but no spark. I passed on that. old Mini bikes were going for insane prices.

I now have light!
Things I've learned through my experience.
1. The Malossi ignition is awesome.
2. The grabor et3 loom colours do not match the ignition. Should have got the sip one or made my own.
3. Complete colourblindness can be a problem in wiring
4. Converting a 6v to 12v switch is not the ideal situation.
5. The beedspeed diagrams are the clearest I've found.

Next job is to work out how to wire up a phone charger;)

Great you got it figured out. Even greater would be if you shared your solutions, in case someone else stumbles upon this thread.

(Your cables look awfully long, don't they?)

I'm having this same issue. $350 and 8+ hours later, I still can't get my new Malossi Vespower ignition to work and I'm super annoyed. "It's awesome!" they said. "The instructions are great and make it super easy!" they said. All I know is that had I just spent $75 and replaced my stator, I wouldn't be losing the last couple weeks if the riding season with a bike that won't even start. *grumble*

Sorry to be off topic. How do you like that single seat on the small frame? I have one on my 90 and the reason I got it is because I really like the way it looks. Unfortunately, it's pretty uncomfortable so I'm going back to the original long saddle I had on it. I think maybe I'm too tall as I always want to slide back further than the seat goes.
