So my beloved Vespa GTS 300 in Titanium was in perfect condition until today :/. My fault though. I was splitting lanes and cut through two cars even though I knew it was too tight. Cars were barely moving but I ever soslightly scuffed/ swiped my left side panel against what appears to be the car's bumper. My scooter wobbled a little and I barely brushed my shoulder into that car. Got home to see a scuff mark on the side. I cleaned it off as I thought it was paint but it has some round scuff marks that can't be washed out!

Will touch up paint do it? It's a rather large scuff and not little scratches.

Can this be buffed out?

Are there places that can respray that section with the exact Titanium color? If so where in LA??

Learned my lesson. I was in such a hurry was taking unnecessary risks :/.

The below image is NOT mine but just reference for size and shape. Mine is nowhere near as deep and there is zero denting.

Okay, I'm going to offer this up front -- I don't own a Titanium-colored bike, nor have I ever. My knowledge on the matter comes only from what I've garnered here at Modern Vespa.

That said - the matte finishes offered on Vespas are not going to be the easiest to "touch up". Hell, they're not even easy to clean (can't wax 'em, apparently gasoline discolors them, etc). I am afraid you are in for a bit of a chore if you want to restore your bike to "factory new" appearance.

Given your location, however, I would enthusiastically encourage you to contact David at Vespa Sherman Oaks (he's a member here on MV - "SDG" is his user name). VSO has done many custom paint jobs for their customers over the years, and as such, he has contacts in the paint & body world that can handle a Vespa. This is not the kind of project you want to take to Maaco, if you catch my drift.

Sorry to hear of your mishap...hope you get a solution that works for you. Please let me know if I can be of any additional help, far away as I may be...

Regards.

Just a thought - I am a sign manufacturer so what about a piece of vinyl? You may get a colour match or very similar to the red. If not a piece of white vinyl with a number in it - like a racing scooter!!! Peter

I'm an I-Car certified painter, any body shop with that label can blend or match that paint, and insurance will cover it ( if you have it)
I did buy some Dutch titanium cookware at a local goodwill a few weeks ago.

In all seriousness touch up paints are going to fill in a rock chip, the process of spraying the paint is the only way to match it.

Get it fixed professionally you won't regret it. It may cost
more but it will look good. Many people have tried to paint this type
of damage themselves, only to be disappointed with the results.

Good luck

Please be sure to contact TouchUpDirect if you have any questions on how to apply the aerosol spray. It's can look great but does take time and patience. It will be very helpful to have pictures of your actual damage to give an honest opinion of what the best course of action is regarding your specific repair.

If you are not experienced with painting cars/bikes this can be a slippery slope. The plus side is, if you happen to mess it up - your Vespa is not ruined. But you will have to pay to have a shop (like VSO) paint your Vespa professionally, which is what may need to be done anyway.

I have done many repairs with aerosol cans on Vespas and all of them have turned out great!

I am happy to share my experience if you'd like. just PM me.

- Joe
