Greetings - Having trouble with a BGM electronic ignition installed on a GL 150. Initially the ignition was working for a short time. The ignition was running for several minutes on the stand and about 5 miles testing on the road before the spark went away. I checked the BGM CDI on a P200 which produced good spark. I checked the stator ohm readings the red and white wire measure 112 ohms and the white and green wire measure 500 ohms. The BGM readings were comparable to the readings I measured on a P200. I checked AC volts output with the system installed and measured voltage on the white and red wire and the white and green wire. I installed the P200 stator into the GL and was able to run the scooter with the BGM flywheel and CDI. Tested AC output with P200 stator and again had similar readings that was observed with BGM stator. Got another BGM stator and have the same symptoms. Everything seems to be check out but no spark. Any idea on what could be going on? |

Are there any physical differences in the plates when you compare the BGM to the P200 stator plate?
You said you measured resistance and output values. Was that when it was in the other engine running? If not, what are the readings when it's in the problem engine? |

Thanks for the reply. I looked for physical differences but I don't see anything obvious. I checked the distance of the coils from the base of the stator. Both seem to be the same height and the thickness of the plate is the same as the P stator. It seems they would be the same depth in the flywheel well.
I checked the BGM resistance installed in the GL and on the bench. I checked the AC output with the complete BGM system installed in the GL. I also checked the resistance and output of the P200 stator in the P before I yanked it to put in the GL. I checked the AC output of the P stator installed in the GL with the BGM flywheel and essentially all three configurations were comparable. It's a mystery to me. The BGM system produced a spark for a short period then stopped. The 1st and 2nd BGM stator matches the ohm reading of the P and produces AC output. At this point the BGM will not produce a spark and the old P stator seems to work? |

I have not tried the BGM stator in the P200 but I could give it try. If it works it's going to drive me crazy...

I think the BGM flywheel is good, it is currently working with a P200 stator plate in the GL.

Curious about your setup. First, where did you get the BGM electronic conversion? Scooter Center Koln? I put in an order for one several months ago with my distributor here in the US and they kept telling them that they are having a hard time getting the flywheels fabricated or something and I never did end up getting one. Now I'm looking at the Parmakit and a Vespatronic options for a GL 150 as well since the BGM one doesn't seem to be available.
Second question, do you have experience with the Parma or Vespatronic kits as well or just this BGM install? If so I'd be curious to hear which you have been the most fond of. Cheers and good luck. |

Had the BGM on order since April got it in September.
The only other experience I had was with a Vespatronic on my GS 150. Works great. |

So it appears these are in stock now. I've been having ignition problems so I just ordered one as well for my GL since my GF seems to think I need to have a reliable bike for her to ride (why on earth would she think that?).....anyhow, once it get's here I'm gonna tear into this and also the BGM distributor here in the US in located in Denver so I'll have them put their eyes on it as well and hopefully we can sort any issues with mine and report back. Cheers!
