Last night we were checking out TUBI on the new Apple TV and I stumbled across ...

wait for it ...

Season 1 Episode 1 of "Shazam" starring Michael Gray and Les Tremayne.

It was a gripping drama about four young bicyclists out looking for fun. Unfortunately only one of them had enough sense to realize that joyriding was not only illegal, but also dangerous. It's a good thing Captain Marvel was there to rescue them from certain death, although they would now face justice in juvenile court.

I can't believe I used to watch that as a kid. It was truly awful.

I never got into college sports.

Went to a NBA (Mavericks vs Cavaliers) game back in '03, and the guys behind me knew where every player and coach had played in college. It blew my mind.

The last kingdom is awesome. Currently rewatching seasons 1-4 to refresh before watching season 5. It was too long a gap so I forgot everything that happened. Show is good enough to watch it completely again.

Just watched the final episode of Peaky Blinders . Brilliantly dark series , a proper finale that went out with a bang . Quite a lot of bangs , in fact . What I just found out is that the BBC is making a feature length one off episode which they say will tie up any loose ends . Can't wait for that .

We've been watching Hoarders, on both YouTube and Hulu. We've pretty much seen all the episodes, so on Sunday when my wife dozed off on the couch, I decided to start watching Nightwatch.

It originally airs on A&E. It "... follows first responders (Police, Fire, and EMS) in New Orleans working the night shift 2000 hours - 0400 hours. Cameras follow firefighters to their calls, EMS to patients' homes or whatever situation they may be called to, as well as Police chases or patrols."

I mainly enjoy the EMS story lines. My wife likes the fact that it doesn't just focus on one group. I also like that it shows how the three groups work together.

And the best part is that they let the viewer know how the different cases turned out at the end of the show (via text on screen). So when you see the guy who got shot in the head and didn't lose consciousness, you don't have to wonder if he made it or not (he did).

I just saw the final episode of Australian Survivor, and watching it while watching the latest "woke" episodes of Survivor US, I have come to the conclusion that something is indeed rotten in Denmark, Kansas. The Australian series was always about ten days longer than the US series, but now the US series has cut the time of each series in half, so it's not too taxing on the contestants, and they spend an unhealthy amount of time whining on national TV about how hard the game is. Next season I expect they'll make it a sleepover with footie pajamas and bunny slippers and care packages from home.

WiFi or Ethernet, HDMI connects to TV. It works pretty well, but doesn't receive some channels I can on the TV, so I only use it to record and watch the recorded shows. I haven't bought data yet either. Time will tell.

I've been looking for a dvr for a while and never found Tablo. Thanks for that!

The Bear, on Hulu is really well done. Lot's of yelling however, and you might not want to hear the word 'chef' for a while.

I was a bit late getting to Severance on Apple TV+ (came out at the end of 2021) but some unique story telling and a season finale reminiscent of the classic 'cliff hanger.'

Le Wife does he TV/streaming thing way more than I do, but since I have YouTube Premium (a perk of subscribing to YouTube Music, which was my primary aim), I do get hooked on the occasional vintage TV series of my youth. Right now? The Green Hornet, which turns out to be better than I remembered. At the time, I was intrigued by it being pitched as an "adult" (i.e. less-campy/silly) alternative to the Batman series running concurrently. And, yes, it was. Besides: Bruce Lee. That is all.)

There are varying degrees of coolness. Batman had some great dance moves.

And he was willing to put himself in danger to protect nuns and ducklings.

It's kinda hard to top that level of coolness.

The missus was trying to find some scary stuff to watch. Kind of struck out until she found that Guillermo del Toro did a Netflix series called Cabinet of Curiosities, a collection of 8 short stories. I'm really not a fan of the horror genre, but del Toro is really a master storyteller, and I've gotten hooked into pretty much every movie he's done. We're on #3 at the moment, and I'm pretty sure we'll stay until the end.

Wanted to start watching something that I knew my wife wouldn't care one way or the other about, so that I wouldn't feel guilty for watching it without her, and saw that Peacock has Space: 1999 available. Two seasons, 24 episodes each, for a total of 48. I've watched the first 16 episodes.

I vaguely remember watching it as a kid. From looking at the dates when the episodes first aired, I must have only watched the latter half of the second season. I remember my brother and I having models of the Eagle Transporter.

Currently watch House of Dragons on Sky Atlantic (via Roku) which is a decent follow up to the best series ever on any channel.

Also watching In From The Cold on Netflix which is about a shapeshifting Russian spy with a daughter in the USA National Ice Skating team.

"1899" on Netflix it's pretty good so far (8 part series)

If you're looking for a great movie "Black 47"
from 2018, didn't get much attention, a bit gritty and dark but beautifully done

I have kind of burned out on cable news/politics.

For a distraction, I have been tuning into watching all the
Neighborhood/Wars, Roadrage/Wars, Retail/Wars,
Courtroom/Cam, where they play dash camera and Smart Phone
camera shots of people beating each other up or going
insane with neighbors or while checking out at a retail store.

My wife loves this low end entertainment and I have got a kick
out of watching it. My usual backup was the History Channel.
But this Wars stuff is a hoot.
