We're still waiting for another season or two of 'The Detectorists'. Quite possibly the best series we've ever had the pleasure of watching...IMO, of course.

Fittest on Earth, Final Showdown in Madtown

About the crossfit championship in Madison WI, where they choose the fittest athletes in the world that can't play professional sports.

Basically, it's everyone who was good in PE but lacked the skills to play a sport people will pay to see.
Judging from the crowds, Madison deserves a professional team in a sport people want to watch. The turnout to watch people doing pullups is incredible.

Madison strongly supports the UW Badgers teams, regardless of sport.

And the vast majority of the state strongly support the Packers, Brewers, & Bucks.

There isn't a NHL team in the state, but the Badgers Hockey teams, both men and women, are usually very good.

They do have minor-league baseball, but from what I hear from my dad, they haven't been very good lately.

Just found a program on CW called "Ade in Britain." 20 episodes of Ade Edmondson traveling around Britain eating food. I'm going to love it.

The show "The Young Ones" has shaped my life in more ways than I care to mention.

I've just started "The Sticky" on Prime. Described in WSJ as "delicious dark comedy about the great maple syrup heist". The first 2 episodes fit this description well.

It's an old show for Amazon Prime to be showing but I've starting watching and really enjoying House with Hugh Lawrie.

I know this post is three months old but I missed it the first time around.

Have you seen Hugh Laurie as Berty Wooster in BBC'S Geeves and Wooster?

Hilarious and how I was introduced to Laurie.

Yes Jeeves and Wooster with Stephen Fry, I vaguely remember it but I was around 21 years old at the time and watching TV wasn't high on my agenda.

Just saw two Australian remakes of British series. One was their take on The Office, and it was different enough that it didn't come across as a copy of the original. Very funny show.

Return to Paradise is a remake of Death in Paradise, which is in it's 14th season. Not a good one either. Caricatures replaced characters, and the whole premise setting up the series is just plain dumb.
having started watching Death in Paradise recently, my wife was quite sad when she saw RP get bumped off, but to make matters worse, the next night she found out that Harry is actually a CGI lizard (I think I had guessed this already.. trained lizard actors are few and far between)

We watched Saturday Night, the movie about how the first SNL show started off. Good flick and I learned something about Milton Berle I didn't need to know. The actor that played George Carlin was spot on.

Mrs Syd and I both enjoy DiP. We went so far as to buy a Roku stick and pay for BritBox. Saturday evening on the local PBS station has Doc Martin, Father Brown, and Death in Paradise. Poirot as well, but we are not fans.

My sister turned me on to Netflix's The Six Triple Eight. Good, historical film about a WW2 era Black Womens' Army Corps unit taxed with delivering mail to and from the troops. I had assumed that things were running fairly smoothly for the times, but they were anything but. It's hard to imagine being on the front lines waiting months to hear from families or sweethearts. Worth a watch!

American Primeval on Netflix.

Gritty... possibly too gritty,. Savage... possibly too savage, dirty, bloody, sort of a slightly less frenzied Beyond Thunderdome set in the mid 1800's Utah/Wyoming area.

The bad guys are the Mormon militia, while the good guys are........well, it's not easy to find any truly good guys in this mini series, but it's not over yet, two to go.

It's obvious from very early in that 'The baddest of an entire series chock-full-of bad guys' are the Mormon militia (so it's not a real spoiler) while the good guys are........well, it's not easy to find any truly good guys in this mini series, but it's not over yet, two to go.

I believe there were only 3 seasons of 'Detectorists' - which, as you've mentioned is a brilliant, very funny series... The Christmas special is very well done, as well. Watch it closely!

I hope more will be done.

BTW, the entire series is available on Youtube... Try the 4K remastered episodes...

I don't watch much TV (but like others have mentioned) my fav series is "Breaking Bad", "Better Call Saul" and "Ray Donovan".

My Wife got me watching a Canadian period series based in the 19th century about an orphan girl called "Anne with an E".
It was different from "stuff" I usually watch but was actually pretty good and worth watching......

Sad to define it that way. but I get it. There are still those that see little use for women in the military, let alone Black ones. It's probably an illogical bias, but in my limited experience, Black women get sh*t done-one underestimates them at their own risk. We've wasted too much talent for too long.

Typical brit mystery detective series, lots of dry humor. I'm liking it.

We watched the ESPN "30 for 30" episode Slaying the Badger on Sunday.

I was familiar with the basics of the events, and the documentary did a great job of filling in the details.

I found it funny when it got to the part about LeMond getting shot after the 1986 Tour de France, my wife said, "What??!?!!!"

She'd never heard about him getting shot.
