Very funny 8 episode series about serial killers and true crime podcasters. Season one is better than season two, but not by much.

We saw Caught Stealing yesterday. Funny, violent, funny. One poor soul gets in trouble for opening a door. And there's a cat.

Today we saw Relay. It is really good. Not a lot of action, but the suspense is through the roof. Great movie, much better than the reviews.

Nice one with Walter Matthau.

Jason Carter and Michael Cleveland and a four others in one hot bluegrass band. Michael Cleveland is a hot fiddler but doesn't sing. But he's pretty funny.
Jason Carter is nearly as good a fiddler as Michael, and has a great voice.
To top it off the guitar player was wearing David Lindley-esque pants!

I actually liked the Spy Game a lot, but Great Gatsby was just strange, nowhere were the novel was.

I first became aware of Diane Morgan for her part on Ricky Gervais' 'Life After Death' series.

Today we went to see The Roses. The English can argue much more creatively than us vulgar Americans.

I'm really enjoying Alien Earth on Disney.
One more episode to go next week. I might binge some Star Wars between now and Wednesday and then cut off my account.

Today we went to see "Good Fortune". Seth Rogan, Asiz Ansari, and Keanu as a low budget angel. I laughed my ass off.

Came across this recently, 'The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar':

Weird, funny, clever, great acting. It is the longest part of a 4 part short story series of films directed by Wes Anderson - all the stories are shorts by Roald Dahl...

This evening we watched Frankenstein. Del Toro's monster is great, of course.

And this afternoon we went to see Roofman. Channing Tatum plays the stupidest dude I have ever seen. This week, anyway.

I watched the first three episodes of 9-1-1: Nashville & the acting is shockingly bad.
I was looking for something to fill the hole that Lone Star left, & that definitely ain't it!

On the other hand, I love that Fire Country is back, though last season's ending shocked me.

We love "My life is Murder" if you can find it.

Just watched The Roses with Olivia Colman & Benedict Cumberbatch. Funny in parts but slightly over-hyped.

Today we went to see Bugonia. What a movie!

New here, but I can rate three series as the best ever; in my wife and my view:
Fauda
Dark hearts
Blue lights

Stress inducing, but very intense.

Oldish English Sci-fi: "Moon"
on my short top list.

Netflix: House of Guinness.

Netflix's The Crystal Cuckoo was pretty decent. Nice miniseries with 6 parts, good acting, nice scenery and kept us not wanting to take a break. Great for optional Spanish practice too!

Last night we watched "Paul Blart - Mall Cop 2" with my son.

First of all, I know, I know ... it came with a steep price. $3.99. But in the end it was worth every penny.

The character of Paul Blart is complex. The first movie left you on a high. It was truly a story of the underdog finally having his day.

The opening of this installment (hopefully there will be many more - I can see this being a running saga akin to "Rocky") really hits you with a gut punch. Six days into his marriage to the woman he fell in love with, his marriage ends tragically. After marrying Paul, she sends him a letter saying she has "regrets" and that her doctor called it "uncontrollable vomiting". Then, two years later, his mother was killed by a milk truck. So, we pick up with our protagonist really dealing with intense and relatable trauma.

As one would expect, Kevin James' acting is Oscar-worthy. And the script ... there are so many quotable lines.

Paul - " It's a bad day to be bad people."

I mean, come on ... that's right up there with " Go ahead ... make my day" or "Get to the choppa!"

Oh, and,

Paul - "Security is a mission, not an intermission." That really hit home.

Probably the finest example of screenwriting and acting within the film is the exchange between Blart and the villain, Vincent Sofel, about who is the craziest. It was some of the most intense and memorable screenwriting I have ever witnessed. And Kevin James is truly a method actor of unequalled talent.

So, this weekend, I highly recommend setting aside one hour and thirty four minutes to be fully absorbed in this gripping example of cinematic triumph.

Stayed up til 1am for the drop of part 1 of the final series of Stranger Things...

My mind is officially blown... part 2 out on Boxing Day & the 2 hour finale on NYD.

Nine Perfect Strangers is one of the most interesting shows I've seen in a while. Well worth a look.

Today we saw 'Rental Family' with Brendan Fraser. Very good.

Into the final 2 weeks of Neighbours (Aussie soap) as it has been cancelled... again.

Huge plot involving a freeway being built through Ramsay Street & everyone possibly selling up!

Lots of old characters coming back in the next 2 weeks... going to be emotional.

Right now we're watching Murdock Mysteries.

We finished Star Trek Strange New Worlds and have now found out that Star Trek Discovery didn't end at season 3 but was just lost by Netflix. Meaning we can carry on watching it after a few years hiatus on Paramount.
