I've been watching a Netflix series called "Norsemen". It's hilarious. I find myself recalling scenes and laughing days after seeing the episode.

I just saw a documentary called Nails, from Canada, about making nails. It was very entertaining. I need to spend less time in Colorado.

Eco games on prime. And real life hunger games.
I hate sports show but this has been a surprise.
Been watching the Eco-games on prime. It's ten episodes all shot with high def cameras, on the Fiji islands. Pictures and sound is great. It's nice to watch this without the super egos of those participating. Also watching the weather channel and newest death threat to the US in the form of the hurricanes plus Forrest fires. |

It is about how Australia go about rebuilding the reputation of their cricket team. If you are into sports it is a great watch. |

Finally getting around to watching Mr Robot. A little surprising seeing as how I work in tech but never got around to it. It's good and we're is season 2 now but man is it deep and a real mess with your mind kind of show. The hacking is good and while I'm no security expert nothing I don't get so that part is fun.

2 episodes into "Away". How did they get away with screwing up the tech stuff so badly? Ugh. |

IMHO, Reno 911 was one of the funniest shows ever made. And it's back. Twenty something extremely short episodes, probably equal to 7 regular episodes. The same cast as before, and just as funny, up to date, topical and on point. It's like they never left.
Due in no small part to the coronavirus, there's not a lot of new shows coming out of the US, so I've been able to see some very entertaining series' that otherwise might have never gotten exposure. Optimists is Mad Men, except they speak Russian. It's set in the period from mid 1959 to about 1963. Stalin is gone, life is getting better, and they really want to become allies of the Americans. There's a bit of glamour, a bit of everything bad we ever heard growing up about the Soviet Union, and a bit of what a lot of people in Russia miss about the CCCP. This is an excellent series. Trackers, fairly good South African action series. Reminds me a bit of Strike Back in terms of the pacing and story structure. The New Nurses, from Denmark, two seasons, six episodes a season. After the war, there was a shortage of nurses in Denmark, so they decided to hire some men and see how that worked out. Partisan, from Sweden, interesting series about a cult, or something just like one. Califat, also from Sweden, about young women who get recruited to go to Syria. Doesn't turn out to be a viable career path. Actually a very well made series that gave me a better understanding of the mindset of so many of the people who went or wanted to go. If you like and are jonesing for Survivor, the new episode of Survivor South Africa starts, or started today. |

Watched Hamilton on the Disney channel last night. The picture and sound was amazing. Our bedroom has a good acoustic setup and a 7.1 atmos system and it really sounded like being in the theatre. As close as we're going to get to that for a long, long time.
Shocked the story wasn't spoilt for me and how little I know about that part of history. I'm a pretty big history buff but US history pre WWI is a gap outside of the civil war. Worth watching if you can get it and like stage plays/musicals. The songs and recurring use of themes was great though it's not exactly "rap" and is toned down for your typical broadway audience. I'll probably go see it when it comes to Toronto (supposed to be here now) but this was so good I don't feel I'm missing much outside of paying too much for a small glass of crappy wine. Lying in bed watching it with a nice chianti was pretty damn good. |

I just saw the first three episodes of Long Way Up.
What a shit show. You can see in their faces about half way through the third episode that nobody is having fun anymore. Ride a hundred miles, put your bike on a charger for six hours. Who wouldn't enjoy that? Anybody who has any inclination to purchase an electric motorcycle or scooter should be tied to a chair and forced to watch this program. What Harley Davidson and the guys who make that truck did for them really went above and beyond. |

I just saw the new Borat movie. It's not better than the first one, and it's a lot more political. It is still hysterically funny. It does seem more scripted than the first one, but overall still very effective at capturing a certain part of America.

We have been watching Anne with an E on Netflix. It's based on the book Anne of Green Gables. It was recommended by my son-in-law. He and my daughter have been watching it with our 6-year-old granddaughter and I can see why they like it.
In the second (of three) season it goes in a really surprising direction. It's not just for kids. I don't want to give anything away. |

I've been watching various European police series on Netflix.
So far I've watched: Black Spot Unit 42 Occupied Paranoid Collateral Somewhere Between Bodyguard The Code The Stranger Safe The Five I also watched Rectify and the most recent season of Wentworth. The fun thing about most of the European shows is that they're usually filmed in the native language (French/Norwegian/Swedish/etc.), then they are dubbed in English. I watch with subtitles on, because of hearing issues. I've noticed that the dubbing doesn't always match the subtitles. It's as if the dubbing is a general translation of what was said, to make it sound like they were originally speaking English, while the subtitles are an exact translation of what was said. In Black Spot, for example, the protagonist is Major Weiss (as stated on the name plate outside her office). The subtitles refer to her as Major Weiss. The characters refer to her as Captain Weiss in the dubbed English. A lot of times the curse words will be different between the dub and the subtitle, sometimes the F-bomb will be in the dub, other times it's in the subtitle. |

Just noticed the revival of this thread. I've been watch Itchy Boots on Youtube, as well as The Lon Way Up on Apple TV. As for series and such, I re-watched The Wire and Boardwalk Empire as pandemic diversion, and Am currently watching Borgen on Netflix, a soap opera-y Danish series from 2012-15. It's about the first (fictional) woman PM of Denmark. so far, pretty interesting mix of politics and press interactions.

What is concerning is I know season 2 does not have great reviews. FWIW Mr Robot should be on most peoples must watch list. What is also impressive is it really gets the tech right including the coding. As someone that started out working on a lot of Linux servers and command line it was fun to follow along. The ralphthemoviemaker reviews on YouTube are worth watching for fans of the show. |

Binged Designated Survivor for 43 episodes. ...then Netflix took it and had an 11yr old girl swearing in the first 15mins! F bombs followed and so did the Off Switch.
Target audience went from adults- to 15yr olds, I guess. |
