One thing that kept my wife and I entertained this past summer was watching Marble Racing on YouTube, specifically Jelle's Marble Runs.
They're currently in the second season of Marbula 1.

The Mandalorian (season 2). Awesome season and the final 2 episodes are lining up to be epic. Not to spoil anything but an iconic character is brought back from the original trilogy in ep 6 and it is incredible. The child in me was very happy.

Last episode of Mando is best 40 min of star wars since the original trilogy. Post credit scene icing on the cake.

Working my way slowly through Money Heist on Netflix ("La Casa de Papel"). I watch in Spanish with Spanish subtitles because I'm working on my fluency. I learn a boat load of new curse words from this series .

Now as to the finale of The Mandalorian without getting in to heavy spoilers.
People complaining about the uncanny valley... I thought they did a pretty good job and it was so worth it. Almost every minute of the episode was action and while the dialogue was a little awkward at points it was still great. The fan service was there, you bet! The little kid in me has been waiting for this for so many years and I can't believe that Disney delivered. Just a simple scene like the TIE fighters being launched was incredible. I think I can see where the future of the show is headed but hard to get in to that without spoilers. As always stick around past the credits. Looks like there will be one more series, hopefully a limited series. I like those though the endings are bitter sweat when you know it is over. Maclunky |

So.. over the holiday my wife and I are going to binge all the Star Wars films which works out to about 26 hours or so. Shutdown from the world and just watch our way through a series. We try and do it every holiday and last year it was Harry Potter.
In the new year we are going to binge Supernatural starting from season 1. The plan is to see if we can finish it before the pandemic is "over" . Masks can still be on but we need to be vaccinated and be able to go to a pub/restaurant and concerts/comedy clubs etc without worrying. I'm guessing realistically we can average 2 episodes a day... |

Man what a great narrative arc we got for the first 2 seasons. Baby Yoda better get off that planet before a certain tragic event happens. Rhys Nicholson Netflix comedy special. My wife and I haven't laughed so hard watching a stand up routine in a long time.
On that note the last tickets we bought for a show (for like $400ish a ticket)before before Covid was John Mulaney. He was on SNL a bit before and came out at the end of the show wearing a huge Toronto T-shirt as had already postponed twice. Then Covid hit and this show got postponed.. I hope all the best for him in rehab, a brilliant mind that has had too much time to be in it's own head. |

I just started watching Upstart Crow. Extremely funny series about Shakespeare. Reminds me a little of Blackadder. A basic understanding of the plays adds considerably to the humour.
Another good series is El Cid, out of Spain. Believe it or not, it's about El Cid. I somehow got the version in Italian, so Atilla should be able to find it. If you do download the Italian version, you can switch to Spanish language if you're using the VLC player. There is a lot of good programming coming out of Spain these days. The Unit (La Unidad), was another excellent Spanish series about an elite antiterrorism unit. |

Up to The Empire Strikes Back in our Star Wars binge and should have them all done by tomorrow. Fun re-watching them in order and the prequels were not as bad as I remember provided you skip through the terrible Padme and Anakin romantic scenes.
My wife is watching The Good Fight and really enjoying it. We're also watching The Preacher. Violent in sort of a Tarantino way and worth watching if you are OK with that level of violence. |

Darn, I did it again. A reminder to myself not to go to a gambling table:
Another movie to the 'not to watch' list. 'Midnight Sky', starring George Clooney, at Netflix. I like George Clooney at his best.. but someone had forgotten to write any actual story for this, it just repeated old cliches with some fancy space pics...my wife gave up a bit before the movie ended, I tried to fast forward in a vain hope there's somekind of catch in the end. Well, there kind of was, but it was so old blah, that I just felt like cheated. Poor George, he deserves better movies. Should have listened to you and choose one of those 'Gloverfield' movies instead... ⚠️ Last edited by RRider on UTC; edited 1 time

A confession
... we have returned to the 'Breaking Bad' with my wife
We always liked it, but apparently we both have short enough attention spans, so never got through the whole saga. This same tends to happen with other long serieses too Well, now we're back and it is an entertaining series, still among the bests if you'll like the style. |

Now their tv shows are a whole different beast and I can get behind an avg amount of them. But they need to stay out of becoming movie studios cause they all just make crappy movies. All of these streaming services' business models are quantity not quality. Make it as cheap and fast as possible, or dump a ton of money into as many big name talents generic unfinished scripts as possible, cause all we care about is constant influx of new content to keep subscribers. Quality streaming studio production: Ted Lasso. A decent amount of Netflix documentaries, most specifically The Keepers. Queens Gambit. Kingdom. Disney+ shows. Thats about it. Netflix movies to me are dime a dozen: Generic George Clooney film Generic Ben Affleck, Oscar Isaac, Charlie Hunnan, Pedro Pascal "action" film Generic Michael Bay, Ryan Renolds, Dave Franco "action" film Generic Chris Hemsworth "action" film Generic Charlize Theron "action" film ⚠️ Last edited by swiss1939 on UTC; edited 1 time
