One thing that kept my wife and I entertained this past summer was watching Marble Racing on YouTube, specifically Jelle's Marble Runs.

They're currently in the second season of Marbula 1.

The Mandalorian (season 2). Awesome season and the final 2 episodes are lining up to be epic. Not to spoil anything but an iconic character is brought back from the original trilogy in ep 6 and it is incredible. The child in me was very happy.

Last episode of Mando is best 40 min of star wars since the original trilogy. Post credit scene icing on the cake.

Next 15 years of Star Wars movies and tv will be like the last 15 years of Marvel.

Working my way slowly through Money Heist on Netflix ("La Casa de Papel"). I watch in Spanish with Spanish subtitles because I'm working on my fluency. I learn a boat load of new curse words from this series .

Looking forward to it! I am hoping you are right and maybe Disney is learning from its failures with the franchise and we see less Mary Sue and more Mando. I'm OK with Star Wars being kid friendly but Disney Plus really needs to add more adult content like Deadpool to the service if they want to compete. There are ways to do this and keep the content away from the kidos. I believe they are working on it though so there is hope.

Disney threw the gauntlet down this week and put every streaming service/content creator on notice. Netflix, Amazon Prime, Apple TV, CBS All Access. Everyone of them is crapping themselves when Disney just announced they are putting tons of money into releasing new tv and movies of every single property they own. Star Wars, Marvel, Indiana Jones, Pixar, Willow, Mighty Ducks, you name it they are making a movie or tv show or 10 for each over the next 15 years. And Star Wars is the figure head for that going forward.

They said.. "ha! you guys thought you had this shit in the bag. We own everything anyone wants to see content of.. and we aren't afraid to use it.
You ain't seen nothin yet."

Buy your Disney stock now.

Now as to the finale of The Mandalorian without getting in to heavy spoilers.

People complaining about the uncanny valley... I thought they did a pretty good job and it was so worth it. Almost every minute of the episode was action and while the dialogue was a little awkward at points it was still great.

The fan service was there, you bet! The little kid in me has been waiting for this for so many years and I can't believe that Disney delivered. Just a simple scene like the TIE fighters being launched was incredible.

I think I can see where the future of the show is headed but hard to get in to that without spoilers.

As always stick around past the credits. Looks like there will be one more series, hopefully a limited series. I like those though the endings are bitter sweat when you know it is over.

I think you misinterpreted what the post credit scene suggests. Not another series. That is what next season is about. Filoni was also the executive producer of the clone wars series which took that approach to each season. The premiere date mentioned is same as season 3 for this. Not two different shows. Same show, new direction for a few seasons. Anthology style approach.

Maybe, time will tell but many think we will get another series.

I'm sticking with season 3. Its in line with their operating method for all the cartoon series helmed by Filoni. We'll get a few seasons of each character and they will get around to revisiting unfinished business for each, focusing more in depth on each storyline for specific seasons.

In the category what not to watch - I started to watch 'The Cloverfield Paradox' from Netflix... a two years old movie that was recommented somewhere.

Not for me... I didn't have the patience to watch it through.

Oh yeah that is not for me either. The one you want to watch is 10 Cloverfield Lane. Now that is a great movie IMHO.

So.. over the holiday my wife and I are going to binge all the Star Wars films which works out to about 26 hours or so. Shutdown from the world and just watch our way through a series. We try and do it every holiday and last year it was Harry Potter.

In the new year we are going to binge Supernatural starting from season 1. The plan is to see if we can finish it before the pandemic is "over" . Masks can still be on but we need to be vaccinated and be able to go to a pub/restaurant and concerts/comedy clubs etc without worrying. I'm guessing realistically we can average 2 episodes a day...

That's awesome! Man we have a lot of Star Wars coming our way. If they are anywhere near as good as The Mandalorian I am a happy fan.

Did I mention...

--------------------------Mini Spoiler Alert-------------------------------------

How absolutely awesome is was to see a certain awesome character absolutely kick ass and be the Jedi master we all know them to be. Man what a great narrative arc we got for the first 2 seasons.

Baby Yoda better get off that planet before a certain tragic event happens.

So now that Boba Fett is on the throne does he have to get fat?

Yeah saw that as well. Looking forward to see where the show goes now that Grogu is not in tow. Some are predicting there might be a bit of a time jump but I doubt that. My guess is the fight for Mandalore takes centre stage especially considering who the owner of the dark sabre is now.

I believe we now call that dish streaming content providers. That can be Netflix, HBO, Disney Plus or Bit Torrent if you will (VPN recommended on that one)

Rhys Nicholson Netflix comedy special. My wife and I haven't laughed so hard watching a stand up routine in a long time.

On that note the last tickets we bought for a show (for like $400ish a ticket)before before Covid was John Mulaney. He was on SNL a bit before and came out at the end of the show wearing a huge Toronto T-shirt as had already postponed twice. Then Covid hit and this show got postponed.. I hope all the best for him in rehab, a brilliant mind that has had too much time to be in it's own head.

I just started watching Upstart Crow. Extremely funny series about Shakespeare. Reminds me a little of Blackadder. A basic understanding of the plays adds considerably to the humour.

Another good series is El Cid, out of Spain. Believe it or not, it's about El Cid.
I somehow got the version in Italian, so Atilla should be able to find it. If you do download the Italian version, you can switch to Spanish language if you're using the VLC player. There is a lot of good programming coming out of Spain these days. The Unit (La Unidad), was another excellent Spanish series about an elite antiterrorism unit.

Up to The Empire Strikes Back in our Star Wars binge and should have them all done by tomorrow. Fun re-watching them in order and the prequels were not as bad as I remember provided you skip through the terrible Padme and Anakin romantic scenes.

My wife is watching The Good Fight and really enjoying it. We're also watching The Preacher. Violent in sort of a Tarantino way and worth watching if you are OK with that level of violence.

Darn, I did it again. A reminder to myself not to go to a gambling table:

Another movie to the 'not to watch' list.

'Midnight Sky', starring George Clooney, at Netflix.

I like George Clooney at his best.. but someone had forgotten to write any actual story for this, it just repeated old cliches with some fancy space pics...my wife gave up a bit before the movie ended, I tried to fast forward in a vain hope there's somekind of catch in the end. Well, there kind of was, but it was so old blah, that I just felt like cheated.

Poor George, he deserves better movies.

Should have listened to you and choose one of those 'Gloverfield' movies instead...

A confession
... we have returned to the 'Breaking Bad' with my wife

We always liked it, but apparently we both have short enough attention spans, so never got through the whole saga. This same tends to happen with other long serieses too

Well, now we're back and it is an entertaining series, still among the bests if you'll like the style.

Never heard of it until now and just watched the trailer. I'll preface the subject with this... I think 99% of Netflix movies are trash. Its like massive budgets and biggest hollywood stars cashing checks to make crappy independent films that have way too inflated budgets/talent for their quality.

Not a fan of most of all the new streaming services producing their own movies. Now their tv shows are a whole different beast and I can get behind an avg amount of them. But they need to stay out of becoming movie studios cause they all just make crappy movies. All of these streaming services' business models are quantity not quality. Make it as cheap and fast as possible, or dump a ton of money into as many big name talents generic unfinished scripts as possible, cause all we care about is constant influx of new content to keep subscribers.

Quality streaming studio production:

Ted Lasso.
A decent amount of Netflix documentaries, most specifically The Keepers.
Queens Gambit.
Kingdom.
Disney+ shows.

Thats about it.

Netflix movies to me are dime a dozen:

Generic George Clooney film
Generic Ben Affleck, Oscar Isaac, Charlie Hunnan, Pedro Pascal "action" film
Generic Michael Bay, Ryan Renolds, Dave Franco "action" film
Generic Chris Hemsworth "action" film
Generic Charlize Theron "action" film

Have you seen Ralph the Movie Maker break down what Bruce Willis has done? Worth the watch. Sorry this is the YouTube mobile link as I'm for a ride in the snow and taking a coffe break.

Nevermind on that video.. I thought it was the talk back where he divulges the Bruce Willis chuffa conversation he had while directing him on Cop Out.

But this is chuffa:

Yep. I promised the family I was going to take them before the reviews came out. They loved it. Was OK but not worthy of a rewatch.

Watching the French series Ad Vitam on Netflix. Man I hate the Netflix dubbing.
