It's sad that dumb luck is your best hope in London these days.
Or multiple locks and a motion sensor that sends a text straight to your phone. Also helps if you can park relatively close to where to hang out so you can get to your scoot in time to break the crook's arm.
In about 8 years of parking various Vespa GTS 250's on the street in London its my experience that you will have no trouble as long as you live and park on a very nice street.
Ok, this will sound stupid, and I apologize in advance, but...
What I didn't realize until this last trip to Paris and Amsterdam is that most people just lock the Vespa to itself -- not to another, immobile thing, like, say, a building -- while, of course, bicycles are locked to racks.
And this will sound dickish, but: of course people steal them, fer crying out loud!
Seriously, imagine the leap in bicycle thefts is people simply locked the front wheel to the frame and called it good.
Sorry, but sorta seems like about as secure as a keyless chastity belt.

Oh sorted then, so all I need to do is come up with the £1.5 million.

So we all need to be millionaires to have a GTS? I think not. Disregarding wealth, NOBODY should be a victim of theft (or any other crime).
I have found a great new helmet for you. Seeing as your head is so far up your arse...

No, my flat is only about £1.2M and the scoot is fine.
Hi all!
Members Rusty on Skok and Gedmunds spotted this video of my GTS250 on the Metropolitan Police website days after being stolen; this is showing how readily it is put in use to commit crimes with the bike stolen around the 14th, May and the video dated 16th, May. I am seriously concerned on regard to how this connection is hardly considered.
Here in London we are aware of cases of criticism towards the police following an episode where the vespa thief/delinquent got killed after being chased on public roads.
I do realize that in the past I might have contravened this blog rules by expressing my frustration at these stories
