I got what I consider one of the best from someone in the UK. I purchased on the EU Website. Maybe someone will see the picture and know who it is. Very Heavy Duty, and its one of my most favorite tools.

I've got one of those. Best one around. Made by Maver in the UK. He's a member on MV but hasn't posted for a couple of years.

That tool looks terrific, but FWIW the Buzzetti tool also works just fine. I've used mine six times so far.

The Buzzetti tool is your best method.

That's for the 400 and 500cc engines. The 250 and 300cc engines need a different tool. Maver's one was designed because the 250/300 Buzzetti tool (that Maksor alluded to) isn't quite up to snuff.

Sorry, I didn't notice the OP has a 300 or that the 250/300 was different in that regard. Thanks for the correction, Jim.

I have the Buzzetti for the 250/300, gave it away to someone.
It just does not hold very well, and the Variator will turn.
The "Maver's" Tool is what I would call Commercial Grade, it holds very well.

An electric impact wrench.

If you're not using a torque wrench to set the accurate torque, the holding tool isn't needed. The impact wrench will have more uses on more bikes, and isn't that much more expensive, at least in the US ($50-$100 for most of them).

Buzzetti tool, kinda cheap... It will pop loose when your trying to turn the nut.
Maver's Tool locks it down tight.

I purchased the Buzzetti for the MP3 500 Sport, I hope this does not let me down.
I would ask Maver to make me one for the 500 if that was possible.

Never put any impact tools on my bikes.
It's Hand Tight, then Torque by Hand or at the most use a Bar.
Seen too many accidents where the wrench twisted a crank, and then your into an expensive repair.

An impact wrench should only be used for removal of a nut not placement.
Unless you can afford between $6,225.00 to $8,250.00 for an pneumatic torque wrench. Crying or Very sad emoticon
