Modern Vespa

It was 38F yesterday morning while I was wrapping my head around whether to take the Vespa for a ride. Temperature is an obvious indicator that winter approaches. But while I was riding I came across another -- the light was on at the local Ski Patrol office. That's like the groundhog seeing his shadow.

I wonder what other signs I'm missing? The absence of Harleys I guess...

Aside from coworkers looking at me carrying my helmet, wearing my gear and asking me if I rode, I think you've about covered it there.

Nice pic! Yes, fewer and fewer two wheelers on the road, particularly Harley's. I'm getting more waves though, cuz we're the die hards that aren't able to winterize due to our severe addiction. What's with the Harley/Vespa thing anyway? Rhetorical, never mind. Nearly all my waves come from sport bike riders.

Freeze Out products work pretty good. It was 38 here last week when I rode to work, but I have a very short commute so not sure how long it would keep you warm.

Snow plows and sand trucks out and visible. Sure sign that winter might be coming.

The roads were icy on my ride today...but i kept going.

Heading to Vermont with my brother in about an hour , probably my last ride of the year, should cover about 250 mi. and I'm pretty sure we'll see signs of winter on MT. Snow and Killington . I'll probably stop at Orvis on the way back and point at a lot of fly rods that i can't buy and feed the trout.

Question: In the photo I can't take my eyes off the terraced landscaping up behind the ski patrol lodge. It almost looks like a reclaimed strip mining hillside. What's going on there?

I am lucky to live in North Florida, where we ride year round.
Might go crazy if I had to put the scooters up for a big winter's rest.

JK i damn sure hope not. Grew up in NY where they was plenty of snow. Winter here means the coastal road is closed because of high surf. Lots of sand on the road and i can hear the surf in my bedroom even tho i'm 2 blocks from the beach. Also there is salt spray in the air. I watch things rust in front of me.

Been a few evenings of down into the 50's here in Houston.

I love my full wind screen! I don't like to be cold.

Have you thought about having your scooter painted with Rust-O-Leum when it come time to repaint?

Actually had to wear my down vest under my riding jacket yesterday. Today it's not even going to break 60 degrees.

Brrrr!

Of course, it's going back up to 80 later in the week.

DB (knocks on wood) my scooter doesn't have any rust. We had him on his side and the very bottom didn't even have any rust. I don't get under there much. However he is kept in a shed and i clean him if he gets wet. My analness helps.

That's great. Just concerned because with 4 years in the Navy I chipped and scraped a lot of rust and paint as well as a daily polishing of brass every morning at sunrise on the weather decks.

Now that I stop and think about it I wonder if arthritis of the fingers could be caused by polishing too much brass? Would that qualify me for disability?

Before anyone starts to feel sorry for me I don't have arthritis.

It could. I would hate to live on the beach. We have a bunch of A frames houses right on the water. They buy cheap stuff and replace it every hear. How fun is that? Not

Not sure if this qualifies for "signs of winter while riding" but yesterday I took a ride though the country. Pretty rare to be taking a leisure ride in the country in Ohio on November 16th. - the thing that stood out the most was the smell of manure everywhere. Wow! Hard to breathe in some places.. Sure sign of winter approaching I guess. I did find a farmers market that was still open and got a smoking deal on some peppers and tomatoes!! When I lifted the seat on the scoot when I got home a heavenly smell of fresh peppers wafted through the air!
