I have 25,000 miles on my 2005 Vespa LX150. I've gone through 3 sets of tires, a couple batteries, and changed the oil once (I use the synthetic Vespa oil-and I know it's way overdue for that). Still gets 65+ mpg, but wondering if I should take it in this spring for a major once over at the dealership.

If so, what should I make sure gets done? (I will also research what I can do on my own, of course).

Any insights will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Take it in now, while the dealer is slow, and you will get it back sooner. Also, they may be able to (want to) spend more time on it as otherwise they may be twiddling their thumbs a bit.

I would change the reg oil,hub oil and brake fluid. Swap out the fuel line, I have done mine 2X in the 8yrs i've owned him (i have almost 36,000 miles). Have you ever changed the belt and rollers? If not do it. Might want to put a new air filter in there also. Check the brake pads (they should be good). Would slap a new spark plug in there also. I still get 70mpg. What color is yours? Got any pics?

If that's not testimony to Vespa durability I don't know what is.

Yikes. The odometer may say 25K, but the engine likely has 50K worth of wear.

That's what I was thinking. Of course I couldn't get away with that because my grease monkey ancestors would cast a hex on my scoot for breaking tradition.

I always take mine in for service during the off season for the reasons you state. Works out well.
