What a scary thought - Euro 4. You'd be bombarding us again with endless how to make it pre-Euro 1 questions again.
Well, in 3 days you will know what to buy. Hang in there and be ready to spring on the 19th if the 2015 is the end of the road. |

Hi mate had to make a quick decision my mate has and old but fully functioning back lol ...........the spare project engine was the best idea ,i would really like a full restoration but the arthritis makes things like body work welding, spraying difficult
If the px was going to be fazed out i really liked the idea of buying another one but the bsg,s engines are now for sale and a similar price .......................this could become an expensive hobby lol Quote: .... hard to find though it was an absolute nightmare on the xs650 all the new copy stuff crap ,and all the original stuff worn out, bung a bsg in and light the blue touch paper lol george |

the engine will do for the moment ,ordering me italian euro 3 bits and bobs ***********ahhhhhhhh Its getting cold so me hedgehog mentality is creeping in ,the workshops heated but not as inviting.........my mates sensible suggestion to set up the spare ,then test run it on the bike is enough to fill my wrenching urges and get to keep a running bike I like the idea of the bsg but how practical it is on my little px is debatable i turned down a yz as it bounced my arse and spine into spasm lol george |

I'm also waiting for any news of next years PX. Aviator educated me about the upcoming ABS rules in a previous thread, and so maybe a PX with front and rear disc brakes and ABS might be on the cards...or they'll just withdraw it again

George,
You need to buy yourself a resto project, screw euro1-2-3-4-5-6-7 or whatever th hell it is, jus get a noisy, old, dirty 2/- , resto it, then put some simple noisy exhaust on it & enjoy life! Or Go buy a Prius , be happy & look like a knob! |

Hi looks good ,i think i read abs is only mandatory for over 125
Quote: ABS This is one most people have heard of; from 1/1/2016 all new-model bikes over 125cc will need ABS, while smaller bikes must have either ABS or a combined brake system. As with the rest of the rules, there's a year of grace for carry-over models, but come the start of 2017 everything must be in-line with the regulations to be allowed to be sold and euro 4 emissions !!!!!!!!!!! not another carb slide thread lol i think 2016 is probably the swansong anniversary year, having ridden an abs sports bike it pains me to say it ,but its the business...............in the wet its the first judgment of how much to apply then feel ,on the abs just yank it,i think you can be close in a controlled environment but in that instant ahhhhhhhh moment abs every time, I only ever ride in the dry ,only in daylight and cant exceed 50mph on my px125 but would have abs if they had it george |

I'm concered...
"I only ever ride in the dry ,only in daylight and cant exceed 50mph on my px125
but would have abs if they had it " WTF? Im pretty sure a Vespa may not be the vehicle for you... Sounds like you need a Lambretta or better... One of those things with 2 front wheels, coz they nice & safe... or learn to ride! There is no real need for front & rear to be connected, as they work for different purposes & change how to bike stops (ie, front is no use in loose gravel/sand) I ride 8", & happy to nail it thru peasoup fog, howling frozen wind & rain on rough windy roads till the paint melts on the hubs, testride a build starting well after midnight & smile when i pass the 70mph mark, or manage to get airborne, so cannot comprehend Why ohh Why someone would be waiting to buy a 'Vespa' with ABS. ... Its simply WRONG. Coming off the mountain... Into the 'light mist'
Early ABS
Aint Bloody Skidding
Always Bloody Stops
Amazing Braking System.

Looks like Piaggio is trying to squeeze one last year out of the PX, and more power to them.
Not sure the manual shift market is robust enough to pump a lot of R&D money into Euro 4 and ABS/linked brakes to venture beyond 2016, but we will see. Speaking of linked brakes, I've ridden a couple of COSAs with linked brakes via the foot pedal and it is quite a nice arrangement. |

same old thing
Yeah, a T5 motor would be nice to actually make this edition special. Perhaps it would have been more difficult to bring up to the E3 pollution standards? Regardless I'm glad it's still alive, but all I'm seeing is special paint, unique labels and a weird seat.
I understand they couldn't spend a ton on engineering but it still seems like they could have at least done something like borrowing the electric choke & gas shutoff plus low 2T oil indicator from the Cosa - already engineered & well proven . A nice set of modern conveniences that would clean up the look a little anyway and not just be a repainted & reupholstered version of the 2015 models, while still being a real PX. Or maybe that^^^ would be seen as some kind of betrayal to hardcore P fans. Maybe the whole point was to make it exactly the same, a real authentic PX w/ a special pedigree. Who knows... I naively expected more, but I don't really have dog in this fight. I'm underwhelmed & a bit disappointed. |

I just think that if they are only going to release as 125 then a T5 motor with nearly double the power of the px125 would boost sales. And Im sure they can keep to whatever euro emissions standards and keep power up. Technology is there and they have the resources.

Hi guys as the p range is virtually unchanged ,i suppose its hard for them to make any fundamental changes ,the seat on mine is the only part that looks ......
"not really out of place,as its part of its evolution".......... but i prefer the old un profiled slab version,i think putting a t5 engine in would be a great idea and cover the traditionalist as its from a previous vespa sports model.............. i know its a bit hypocritical but i like having the disc brake but i much prefer the vespa drum brake look t5 engine , concealed twin disc with abs http://www.est1946.com/so-calspeedshophotrodfrontbrakes.aspx vintage style seat with matching piping i think of my px as the bike version of the lovely little 2cv functional reliable adorable ,so much more than transport perhaps a couple of vintage colour schemes how do you do make a classic anniversary model special without changing what makes it classic ,no idea lol george |
