What a scary thought - Euro 4. You'd be bombarding us again with endless how to make it pre-Euro 1 questions again.

Well, in 3 days you will know what to buy. Hang in there and be ready to spring on the 19th if the 2015 is the end of the road.

lol no your all safe now have all the info i need, not really sure of what and why we are doing stuff but i,ll get a better understanding when i can see
the changes and the data,

my arthritis had"strangely" really dented my confidence my ktm was still under warranty and i stripped it !! last year or so I have been second guessing myself and deliberating over ridiculously simple mechanics, and a fear of failure and a constant indecision

this vespa adventure has taught me a big lesson, and what i needed was that Fuc*k it .................................just do it

thanks

Hi mate had to make a quick decision my mate has and old but fully functioning back lol ...........the spare project engine was the best idea ,i would really like a full restoration but the arthritis makes things like body work welding, spraying difficult

If the px was going to be fazed out i really liked the idea of buying another one but the bsg,s engines are now for sale and a similar price .......................this could become an expensive hobby lol
Quote:

couldn't do that again !!!!!!!!!!
it was an absolute nightmare on the xs650 all the new copy stuff crap ,and all the original stuff worn out,

bung a bsg in and light the blue touch paper lol

Hi mate sorry not aware of the millennium t5 model ,looks cool and fast....
the engine will do for the moment ,ordering me italian euro 3 bits and bobs ***********ahhhhhhhh

Its getting cold so me hedgehog mentality is creeping in ,the workshops heated but not as inviting.........my mates sensible suggestion to set up the spare ,then test run it on the bike is enough to fill my wrenching urges and get to keep a running bike

I like the idea of the bsg but how practical it is on my little px is debatable
i turned down a yz as it bounced my arse and spine into spasm lol

Hi mate I totally agree but with a 225 engine i wouldn't feel such a plonker revving the nuts off it at the lights
but my neighbors would be back to tutting again,i'd have to push it down the lane before i could start it lol

I'm also waiting for any news of next years PX. Aviator educated me about the upcoming ABS rules in a previous thread, and so maybe a PX with front and rear disc brakes and ABS might be on the cards...or they'll just withdraw it again Razz emoticon

its crazy i know lol i think its a generation thing ,that squirrel mentality, all my "shall we say mature friends" have tools ,bikes, boxes of long dead bike parts ,its never throw anything away as one day you might need it .................and a bizarre need to fill empty area ,i sold all my tools off from the work shop, bandsaws planers a life time of tools ,some i hadn't used in twenty years,my father once said you don't need a house just a workshop with a skip underneath you can empty lol i begrudge buying a pair of jeans costing more than £15 and dont get me started on the cost of socks lol but can justify £1000 on a vintage uke or silly money on a bike i don't actually need ....... vespa stuff is a lot cheaper
so its even easier to justify

Hi looks good ,i think i read abs is only mandatory for over 125
Quote:
ABS

This is one most people have heard of; from 1/1/2016 all new-model bikes over 125cc will need ABS, while smaller bikes must have either ABS or a combined brake system. As with the rest of the rules, there's a year of grace for carry-over models, but come the start of 2017 everything must be in-line with the regulations to be allowed to be sold
http://www.bennetts.co.uk/bikesocial/news-and-views/news/2012/2015/august/interpreting-the-new-motorbike-legislation---what-does-it-mean-for-you/#.VksY7lXhCVM

and euro 4 emissions !!!!!!!!!!! not another carb slide thread lol i think 2016 is probably the swansong anniversary year,

having ridden an abs sports bike it pains me to say it ,but its the business...............in the wet its the first judgment of how much to apply then feel ,on the abs just yank it,i think you can be close in a controlled environment but in that instant ahhhhhhhh moment abs every time,

I only ever ride in the dry ,only in daylight and cant exceed 50mph on my px125
but would have abs if they had it

"I only ever ride in the dry ,only in daylight and cant exceed 50mph on my px125

WTF? Im pretty sure a Vespa may not be the vehicle for you... Sounds like you need a Lambretta or better... One of those things with 2 front wheels, coz they nice & safe... or learn to ride!

There is no real need for front & rear to be connected, as they work for different purposes & change how to bike stops (ie, front is no use in loose gravel/sand)

I ride 8", & happy to nail it thru peasoup fog, howling frozen wind & rain on rough windy roads till the paint melts on the hubs, testride a build starting well after midnight & smile when i pass the 70mph mark, or manage to get airborne, so cannot comprehend Why ohh Why someone would be waiting to buy a 'Vespa' with ABS. ... Its simply WRONG.
Coming off the mountain... Into the 'light mist'

Sorry, I must've missed the part where it's necessary to be daredevil to ride a Vespa? Well done to you for bravely going out in all conditions - I've also had to commute on my scooter in pretty horrendous conditions - but I don't see how it's at all relevant to George wanting ABS...

Also I don't see how choosing to scoot in fair weather only somehow means you need to learn how to ride?

dont know your age mate or what you've owned but i carry several injuries ,fractures both legs, scull wrist collar bone left ankle plates screws,p1 p2 spine damage ,i'm not a young man anymore and it all catches up with you ,a few road accidents but motocross being the biggest culprit ,I bought the px for pottering around ,and have over the last 10 years moved to less powerful bikes to match my physical limitations ,i,ve gone from bikes that do 70 mph in 1st with ease ,but matched with superb handling braking,i bought my ktm lc4 to actually slow me down ,then the xs 650 to slow me more,.............the appeal of the vespa for me is that low tech functional, pop to the shops agricultural workhorse with awesome styling ,a vespa px .........its the perfect bike for me ,if i wanted airborne the yz,fast the R1 ,vibrate every bone in my body the xs650 all round crazy ktm supermoto

Looks like Piaggio is trying to squeeze one last year out of the PX, and more power to them.

Not sure the manual shift market is robust enough to pump a lot of R&D money into Euro 4 and ABS/linked brakes to venture beyond 2016, but we will see.

Speaking of linked brakes, I've ridden a couple of COSAs with linked brakes via the foot pedal and it is quite a nice arrangement.

Hi its not about grammar or what we've owned ,just trying to illustrate these little 2 stroke don't have to be something else .They don't have to compete
they are awesome bikes in there own right ................my vespa is no less valid than my kettle or an mv agusta , fast in what world lol ....................i'm proud to own my px125 i don't see it as a thrasher for a learner or a poor mans lc ,its not a substitute for any thing

She,s a twist gear italian 2 stroke that looks the bollocks, its cheap to run easy to fix .......come on guys lets embrace the vespa for what it is ,and what it was designed for "that's where it excels"

same old thing
Yawn emoticon Yeah, a T5 motor would be nice to actually make this edition special. Perhaps it would have been more difficult to bring up to the E3 pollution standards? Regardless I'm glad it's still alive, but all I'm seeing is special paint, unique labels and a weird seat.

External inline image provided by member with no explanatory text

I understand they couldn't spend a ton on engineering but it still seems like they could have at least done something like borrowing the electric choke & gas shutoff plus low 2T oil indicator from the Cosa - already engineered & well proven . A nice set of modern conveniences that would clean up the look a little anyway and not just be a repainted & reupholstered version of the 2015 models, while still being a real PX.

Or maybe that^^^ would be seen as some kind of betrayal to hardcore P fans. Maybe the whole point was to make it exactly the same, a real authentic PX w/ a special pedigree. Who knows...

I naively expected more, but I don't really have dog in this fight. I'm underwhelmed & a bit disappointed.

I liked having those features on my ET2, but actually ditched the e-choke eventually. It's a super finicky device (well, the ET2 variant was) and once you need to troubleshoot the motor it becomes a PITA worrying about if it's working properly. I like to be able to *know* that it is working and if it is on or off. But the auto tap and oil light are useful, definitely

I just think that if they are only going to release as 125 then a T5 motor with nearly double the power of the px125 would boost sales. And Im sure they can keep to whatever euro emissions standards and keep power up. Technology is there and they have the resources.

I had a look at last year's annual report but unfortunately the sales figures are lumped together... doesn't even mention PX in the whole thing. But a guy in the know told me that PX production took up something like 1% of all production time. As far as development goes, I should imagine they are thinking "if it ain't broke..."

One press release said 125/150. Not sure the sales potential is good enough to justify R&D for both Euro 4 and ABS/Linked, which will kick in shortly.

Hi guys as the p range is virtually unchanged ,i suppose its hard for them to make any fundamental changes ,the seat on mine is the only part that looks ......
"not really out of place,as its part of its evolution".......... but i prefer the old un profiled slab version,i think putting a t5 engine in would be a great idea and cover the traditionalist as its from a previous vespa sports model..............
i know its a bit hypocritical but i like having the disc brake but i much prefer the vespa drum brake look

t5 engine ,
concealed twin disc with abs

vintage style seat with matching piping

i think of my px as the bike version of the lovely little 2cv functional reliable adorable ,so much more than transport

perhaps a couple of vintage colour schemes

how do you do make a classic anniversary model special without changing
what makes it classic ,no idea lol

Thats cool mate ,nice to have an actual special version of a vespa scooter ................don't think they will do anything unusual for the 2016,i really hope they keep making them ,you get back up with genuine spares etc dont think i,ll ever buy another vintage bike ,just too much aggravation sourcing bits and the vespa disc brake is better than the xs !! been out on the bike this afternoon dry but very windy definitely an experience lol great fun
