I just noticed today my exhaust just became louder. It's a stock P200 never kitted, never modded short of the 24/24 spaco to replace the 20/20 and never split apart with about 30,000 miles and still with original exhaust. Question is should I up jet with it being louder? Or just grab the Sito plus I have on the shelf and put it on. I have a full set of idle and main jets and wonder what ones to use. Prefer to just replace with a stock exhaust but funds are depleted. Plug chop is good after this trip but I think I will check that daily. Still running fine with no starvation at WOT, but I am concerned

Are you sure it is the exhaust?

If so, I would not upjet and keep riding. If the exhaust has a hole, or is coming loose (the first seems plausible if it's original and never been touched...), it's probably only going to get worse and it is going to be tough to compensate with jetting.

I would 1) verify it is exhaust and not something else changing the timbre of the engine, and 2) if it is the exhaust throw the Sito on with a bigger jet for now until you can afford a proper replacement

Are you sure it hasn't just slipped loose where it mounts to the cylinder?

It's all tight with no apparent leaks. It just makes my tunes a little harder to hear. I'll run it as is and keep checking the spark plug till can a new one

If you have a SITO Plus on the shelf and a full set of jets, why not just slap that puppy on and get it running nice and smoothly? Sounds like you have the solution on the shelf at home and with no real cost.

I agree. I think running it and hoping for the best with vague plug readings is asking for trouble.

If there's no sign of issue with the exhaust, have you given any thought to other sources of the change in the engine's timbre?

You need to remove the exhaust and inspect it. If there is a split in the exhaust you could be hurting later.

If I were you I'd just turn up the music volume. Maybe your Cat Stevens/Jimmy Buffet mixed tape needs a refresh.
