I've inherited a 1980 P200E with about 5,000 miles on it. In excellent condition. Yellow. Luggage rack with container on the back. Picture attached. Very cool scooter. Any help appreciated. Many Thanks,

welcome!

Location can be a big factor. What region are you located in?

Assuming that was original paint and the motor and electrical were in great shape, in my neck of the woods (SF bay area) I think you'd be looking to ask ~3000 USD, planning to settle around 2500. In other areas you might ask 2000 or possibly lower. So it depends

*However, note that your scooter is not "all original". Many things on there are newer parts (not inherently a bad thing),
and I would GUESS that the paint is not original either given how nice it looks and the number of part changes we see elsewhere (again, not inherently a bad thing since the original paint might have been total trash by now). Looks from the one pic like it's good paint, though

Around here (Charlotte, NC) it would go for $1600 - 2000. But this is not much of a scooting town. Location????

I'm right in the middle. I paid $2500 last year with about the same mileage. Body a bit rough, but the motor had been rebuilt (seals, bearings, CDI, etc.) but otherwise stock.

Well, it's not all original... the blinkers are clear (original are orange), the legshield trim is black (original is aluminum), and the mudguard trim is aftermarket. Not sure that the yellow is an original color... I have seen red/orange, silver, blue and white, but never a yellow like that on a P200.

Now for value... it all depends on the engine and its history. If you have proof (receipts) that it was rebuilt in the past few years, that will improve your bottom line (old engine seals may leak, and are not compatible with ethanol blended fuels). If the engine is an unknown, then I would say that in prime markets (So Cal, NYC, Florida) you could ask $2700, or $2200 in other markets. With a recently rebuilt engine, it adds about $500 to the bottom line.

Do you know how long this scooter has been sitting? If it's more than a few years, you may be looking at a little bit of maintenance to make it a regular street machine, like tires, tubes, and shocks (especially if they are the originals from 1979!).

BTW, even though you might not be enamored with the rear rack and enormous top box, it may add a tiny bit of value. I have the same box, and it holds an enormous amount of stuff in it. The fact that it's painted to match is a positive. Give us a few more pics from different angles and we can help a little more.

Good luck.
