Hi guys! Saw this forum and decided to register and join it while searching for troubleshoot regarding my current problems.

1. My vespa stalls sometimes. It shouldn't happen for an auto bike. Not sure whats the main problem of it. From what I research, may need to clean my throttle body (a.k.a carb) or maybe need to do some diagnosis tools? Is it true?

2. While cruising 90-100km/h there's a sudden "engine-brake" like and there's a red light from the "Code" at speedometer. The code like usually blinks when there's no key. It's an anti-theft system. After the red light went off a few secs, I throttle back again its normal but I can feel it's like not smooth before it happens. And can feel its like 'heavier' or like something is pushing you back eventhough you're just cruising about 90km/h. When I came to a stop, sometimes it stalls and it takes 3-4 times to start back normally. It happens quite a number of times even after I overhauled my engine. From what I researched so far, it may be ignition/electric/cdi problem. Or maybe poor connection. Is it true?

NEED HELP! Even my mechanic find it weird. That's what we assume about troubleshooting my vespa. Any experts please let me know asap! Thank you very much!

Check your kill switch.
Check HT lead and spark cap.
Look up the immobilizer LED codes in the wiki.
Check ignition switch.
Check the antenna around your steering lock.

I've had the pushing back feeling on my ET3 when the spark cap was loose, so I guess your spark doesn't fire all the time.

Noted will do! Was wondering if spark plug may be the problem as well. I'm scared if the throttle body might be the main cause.

Mechanic said valve there's some blockage at valve so need to clean all the parts and replace piston rings etc cause the engine making loud noise. Louder than exhaust.

Did you do the work or did your mechanic? Was he a Vespa mechanic? It might be helpful if you added your location to your profile.

If it's a IE you won't have a carb. How many miles do you have on it. You should take it to a Vespa dealer and have them hook it up to their diagnostic machine. I doubt the valves are shot. Unless you have thousands of miles on it and i mean 20,000. Don't think your mechanic knows the bike. The red light should only blink for 48hrs after it was last ridden. Then it automatically shuts off. Once you start it ,it then goes off. If i'm reading you thread right it comes on when your riding it,right? That shouldn't happen. There's the clue . A certified Vespa dealer with a diagnostic machine will be able to suss out the problem. Wouldn't hurt to make sure the spark plug is in there tight. They do come loose. However that won't cause your red light to come on. Have you changed the oil and put in the right amt? Anyway good luck and keep us posted on what the dealer says.

Around 2200 miles. And yup red "code" light comes on when there's a sudden "brake" while riding. Engine oil, oil filter and spark plus all just changed recently. And yeah going to Dealer for diagnostic scan. Pray hard there's no change of fuel injection unit.

Sent bike to Piaggo Dealer. They use the diagnostic tools to check for errors. And yeah they found 4 errors. I only remember 2 which is temperature sensor error and air/fuel mixture error. All these caused jerky and stalling problems. Stall is because of temperature error. Jerky problem is because of air/fuel mixture. That's what I remember. And another problem is spark plug. The dealer said I used a different type of spark plug. The correct ones is the "two-legged" type of spark plug.

Can they reprogram it for you? At least they have a diagnostic machine and know how to use it. The spark plug is an easy fix. If your mechanically inclined DIY. Who put the spark plug in? Anyway hope you get it fixed. Keep us updated on how they do, if you have time. Good luck

Yeap. They reprogrammed it due to 4 errors found. So far so good. No jerky. No stalls. Before I send to Piaggo dealer, my other mechanic put the not recommended spark plug in. Now my spark plug is NGK Piaggo Spark Plug. I only remember 2 errors. One is temperature sensor which may be the cause of stalling as once the heat is 'over' the limit, it stalls. The other that I remember is air/fuel mixture. May be the cause of jerky. The other 2 I forgot though.
