Hi, since I have owned my Allstate I have had the gut feeling about the front fork been bent. At some stage the original pogo stick fork was replaced with a vnb one. When I let go at the handlebar on the straight it goes dead straight. The only problem the front mudguard rubs on the shield. Can someone tell me please what the gap should be with the legshield? Before I buy a new fork from India (which could be a big mistake) Can anyone tell me if it is possible to make the one I have straight again.

Thank you for reading

talk to Derek from Scooterlabs... he has a bunch of forks that are originals & likely will be more like the original

Thank you mate.
Do you know if it's possible to make it straight again?

Fabio the best way to tell is to take it out of the scooter. The upper and lower portions should be parallel to each other from any direction. If it's a subtle bend you won't see it while it's in the scooter.

However if you are having no issues with tracking then it may simply be the mudguard rather than a fork problem. Try pushing down on the back section by hand... you may get the extra mm or two clearance you're looking for.

My super displayed the same problem. It was the mudguard in my case. I'd try that before pulling it out if the tracking is ok.

Thank you Ginch, I will try and push it a bit I can't do to much of that as the hard is splitting at the sim on the back

From what I can make of it there isn't a lot of gap! Right?

I just went out and measured. with the wheel straight on, the gaps i've got are about 15mm on my super and smallframe and about 30mm on my PX. I'm not sure if there is a factory measurement. Both my super and smallframe have been 'manipulated' in the guard at some point.

Can you try to bend it a little?
How about a picture from the motor side, taken from about 2-3 metres away? It migh tell us something.

It needs to be from the engine side so we can see the fork.

Mine was like that. I pulled the fork out and it was straight. Turns out it was just the guard so was the frame. It bent out pretty easily. I've found if you even loosen them off there can be some play in them before you bend. Here's a pic of where mine was rubbing against the frame.

Yeah I think Blank is right... I'd try that.

Most pictures with that type of guard show it higher at the front, less central over the wheel.

I'd loosen it before bending to see if it's just fitted badly. It's only 3 nuts. Nothing to lose trying.

The early Allstate forks are almost always bent like that. I built a jig based on a NOS fork and straighten them before I put bikes back together. The gap should be about 1/2" or 13mm

Its not that the forks are bent, its probably not got the correct fork bearings or ring nuts, spacer washer or dust cover on or in the correct position. What I mean the fork is pushed up to high, this might be due to the incorrect headset bolt being used, i.e. the diameter is to big and so is a struggle to push through the headset & fork. If you know what I mean.

Thank you Kmf,

I wish i had a straight fork to refer to for measurement as my intention was to make a jig and make it available to other people here in Melbourne as I believe it is possible to make them correct again.
