Hi

Just wanting to know if anyone has a definitive answer as when I pulled this engine apart it had three random washers in there.

This the cruciform I pulled and the gear selector rod with 2 washers. One still in the shaft.

Any help would be appreciated.

Not so sure about 91 px models, but my '80 pe 200 had the one fat washer between the rod and the cruciform. without it, it didn't find third or fourth properly.

One of my engines is an EFL from around that time.

No washer, cruciform of the flat type. Your's looks like it has some angles?

Maybe someone fitted the wrong cross and shimmed it up with washers.

I might of c be wrong. It has happened.

You have the wrong type of selector rod for EFL.

The cruciform you have is EFL type.

EFL doesn't use washer between selector rod and cruciform.

You got it.

Can you take a picture of the rear axle without the gears on it?

I was simply trying to ascertain what type of transmission you have.

EFL rear axles will allow the install of either type of cruciform, even if it is the incorrect type. You can't install a EFL-type flat cruciform into a non-EFL rear axle. Well, unless you use a hammer.
