Today marks the tenth anniversary of the purchase of Rocket, my 2006 Vespa GT. It is a machine that has carried me to many wonderful places with great friends, totally transforming my free time. Between riding and fixing, I spend a lot of time with it and the newer bikes that all came from enjoying owning a cool scooter.

Rocket has been on one Cannonball, several rides to North Carolina and thousands of miles of long rides around North Florida and South Georgia, currently at 68,600 on the odometer, all mine.

It is currently running very well. I am riding it to work every day and plan to take it on the 7BSC ride to Micanopy this weekend.

I hope Rocket sees 10 more years and gets to 100,000 miles before it's retirement.

It's a good looking scooter and I'm sure it'll be good for another 10 years at least Just out of interest, did you get your Lambretta Li 125 before or after your GT?

Rocket hasn't been trouble free, but always repaired.
It had a camshaft issue at 40,000 miles.
New carburetor at 50,000.
4 exhaust systems and several variators.
It gets ridden hard, and is still going well.
Others get the call for big rides these days, but I will keep Rocket forever.

Goodness, 10 years, great stuff. I have had my GT200 Sofia almost a year and have done a mere 700 km/ 440miles. It is only used on fine weekends, but I fully understand why you go so far on Rocket.

Congrats my friend. Good for you for sticking with your 200. Most everybody has moved up to 300's. I'm getting close to 10yrs with my LX and i've loved every minute with him. Well maybe not when he doesn't start for no reason at all but he's Italian and allowed to be temperamental. Laughing emoticon He's to another 10yrs. Clown emoticon Clown emoticon
