Let's hear it. We've heard some pretty crazy stories about things people have attempted to fix with JB Weld. Everything from cracked mirror mounts (success) to holed pistons (major fail).

We used it to repair an old broken kill switch and it was still working fine a year later when we replaced it with a NOS one. Other times it hasn't worked so well.

So what've you used it for and how well did it work? Pics too if you have em.

fixed a hole (from too much porting) in casing with local equiv
used high temp & so far its survived 12000km of thrashing.
Horn screws are screwed into it, as could not find the last 2 original clips
also stuck a bolt on for front guard trim, as orig pole snapped in accident.
Have used it for numerous things over the years, & know it is microwavable, as used it to stick handle back on a coffeemug!

JB welded a stud into the smallie where the column lock cover pin goes - the pin was stubborn on coming out and the drilled out hole too big for a new pin. Double nutted the stud to hold on the new cover - not one I'm really proud of but the spare hides it from view.

Made the headset journals where the gear and throttle tubes run a little more snug using JB.

The stuff that SEB used on the hole through the case transfer port is awesome. And from memory it sets in a few minutes. Pretty sure this is the stuff below. And they even make one they say is good for 1300C/2400F!

I JB Welded a rip in my floorboard where a snowblower had hit it and ripped in. I used it both as a "weld" to close the gap between the two sides of the rip and as a putty to smooth in the distortion. Then sanded, primed, and painted over - looks great

I once used it when I blew the head gasket on a 69 Chevy Nova 250 6 cyl.
The head was pitted between 2 cylinders. Filled it in with JB weld and sanded it down. It wasn't warped, so I slapped it back together and drove another year with no problems before selling it.

Yip, i inherited an awesome one, with drag marks on the back where the prior owner was dragged ho,e after passing out!

For my 14th birthday i got a chainsaw, as 'well, you are about old enough to cut wood' type of pressie...
I moved a few years later, but left the chainsaw under the house, & its tank rotted a bit... & all my fuel leaked out...
So grab some JB Type stuff (made for fuel) & fixed the leak in the seam...
Upon closer investigation i noticed the sparkplug lead had also suffered, so needed replacing...
Then as i trued to split the cases i found that i had JB'd them together too...
So out with the 6mm wire & made a new pluglead, with addition of a bit of insulation tape ir was 'perfect'...
Then came time to start... Dang no fuel, EXCEPT AVgas from the racecar...

As it was cold, i had my jacket on....
Then started the chainsaw, which ran like a dream, except for a few random sparks from the lead...
That was till the vibrations caused the tank to split apart again...
Then the sparks found the fuel & all hell broke loose...
I dropped the (still running saw, with a dodgy safety guard), & contemplated the most efficient & effective to put out flames on a revving chainsaw...
So off with the jacket to douse flames & wrap around the chain to stall the motor...

Ive never replaced that jacket!
& learnt to make kindling usint the gentle persuasion of jelly!

It's like epoxy, but "metallic" - you mix it and smear it on for your gluing/filling/whatever purpose. When it dries it's hard as a rock - you can then sand/dremel/whatever to help finish the surface of it off if needed

Hi mate i will buy some to try ,i think the chewing gum like stuff they used to repair the porous crankcases on the first red defective px i bought might of been jbweld i was very dismissive of it as a repair but was not really aware of
the actual product i wanted it welded or new crankcases they assured me it was something they have used with success but a brand new bike .........

I had an oil filter stuck on my truck. So I smeared some fast cure JB weld all over the base and bottom edges of the filter, and then covered it with "Saran Wrap" - it's a very thin plastic film that you put over food to keep it fresh.

I then pressed a cup-type oil filter wrench over the whole mess so the JB weld would ooze and cure to create a perfect fit between the filter and the cup wrench.

After it cured, I put the socket wrench handle in the end of the filter wrench's hole as usual and spun it right off no problem. One hammer whack to the whole thing and the wrench fell off because the Saran Wrap kept the JB Weld from sticking to it.

Ive never used it, but do use Belzona & used it for the two seat stops on my current scooter and so far is working a treat.

Jb welded pitted fork tubes and sanded smooth, no more leaks!

Tonight i tried to fix the thingee that is on the floats...
The Mille took its toll, & my issue with flooding/bogging over bumps for day 2 of the Mille has been diagnosed, & possibly resolved.
I took carb apart to clean it & found the bracket that holds the float was... Well... Pivoting wuth the weight if the needle... Then it snapped off!

Todays use

Many years aro while working at automative parts shop (Repco, now Napa?) i stuck the handle back on my coffee cup... It lasted till the cup broke (handle was ok though)... It handled boiling water, microwave & dishwasher... Very impressed & a great sales pitch

Crack in a Pinto race engine head between Number 2 and 3 cyclinders. Lasted the weekend.

Ohhh... ThT reminds me...

Head stud on Toyota Starlet with race 4k motor, ran 260lb compression (from memory) with 2 head gaskets & a shim!
Used to stretch head bolts, 1 smapped, so JB Welded it back in pkace... Never came out again

Only normal stuff like rotary pads.

Looking at the steering stop repair, though, I'm totally going to try that out. I've got a super fork to replace the bent fork in my VBB, but have never finished the install since it requires some reworking, starting with the stops and including cutting down the overall length and changing the lock.

I'm thinking I'll tap bolts into the new fork as a reinforcement, then build up the stops around that.

I rebuilt the spot where the front brake lever bolt goes, using steel stick. I hope it works out for me.

Crank Fix. **Done!

I used it a few years back to fix some hairline cracks between the crank case and the gear case after small end bearings came loose and did the bad thing.

In the dark distant past someone borrowed my fav coffee mug, dropped it & the handle snapped off...
I used a similar product (Kmead-It Metal) in an attempt to fix it... & it worked!
I used the cup for many years, with boiling water & even in the microwave.
Never had a problem

Cracked cylinder jug on an old British Seagull 2hp outboard. Lasted years... of course, I think those engines would run for years with a cracked cylinder anyways...

Oops.....big gaping hole in my transfer port, having ground down a Pinasco Magny Cours cylinder to accommodate an electric start flywheel. Yes I know, I'm a plonker.

Plastic Padding Chemical Metal to the rescue. Looking good but only time will tell. I'm surprised there was enough pressure down there to blow the [thinner] layer of alu, but I know now!! My OCD tells me to buy a new cylinder and forget about elestart, but my wallet says otherwise.

I was into more modern twist-n-go scoots (2 strokes only!) before I ever got a shifty Vespa...

It's pretty common when trying to squeeze every ounce of performance out of those little 2t's that we (tuners seeking max power) backfill the cases with JB Weld and end up cutting straight through to the JB Weld behind.
Scooters have poor case design but to try to imitate the flow of modern performance 2t takes lots of cutting and porting and JB! lol.

How did the repaired fin hold up Peter? I need to fix a damaged skirt.
