Modern Vespa

Here in the States. We're celebrating the Native Americans saving our ass after our miserable attempt at long term camping.

It was a three day party to give thanks and appreciation.

So many years later, we're doing OK and have grown into a nation that can almost wipe its own bottom. I wonder how our Native American friends turned out....

So Happy Thanksgiving to all of you and your families!


ps. I'm visiting family in Rhode Island, so if you're on your ride and you see an older goofy guy waving frantically at you as you ride, it's probably me.

We don't do it (but seem to have been landed with black Friday ), but happy Thanksgiving to our merican cousins 8)

Happy Turkey Day!

Nice to have a day of thanksgiving, even if it's just a day off (with football) for a lot of folks. Rather muddled history which our aboriginal friends don't quite see the same way. Nor the Brits, I'd say....probably happy to get rid of those nutters.

Wiki is my friend: I often surprise our guests by thanking those who helped make the meal and then launching into a whole litany of thank-you's: the folks in store who sold us stuff, the truck drivers who took it there, the factory workers, the farmers, and if I am not stopped, the people who made the trucks and the packaging.

Turns out that thousands of people all over the world did their bit for our repast.

I was surprised to read in "The Forme of Cury" the mention of "corn" hundreds of years before the Pilgrims were introduced to it in Plymouth. After a little of research, I found out corn is a generic term for the kernels of the plants of harvest. Oat, barley, wheat, etc were called corn.

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone. Have 2 dinners to go to. Made my moms secret stuffing. Very good but not for your arteries. I always try and give back around this time of year. I collect bottles on my walks and recycle them. I'm not normal.I can make $60 a week if i do it right. Got rid of some yesterday and i saw the woman who cleans up around a very small "shopping center" in Haliewa. She didn't have very many and i know that she doesn't make a lot of money. I gave her my proceeds ($51) and she must of thanked me 5 times. Felt good. To me that's the meaning of Thanksgiving. Not all this Black Friday crap. She can now get a turkey and will have a better dinner. 8) Now i'm off to eat my way thru this Thursday. Have a good one.

Happy Thanksgiving, I'm getting ready to make my thanksgiving day Pizza

FLY in the shape of a turkey i hope. 8) I had a shamrock pizza at a pizza place for St Patrick's day.

No but , there will be some sliced turkey on it, I tend to get carried away.

T thx.My parents brought me up well. Since we were upper middle class, he instilled in me,the fact, that others did not have it as good. For being a only child i never acted like it. Funny thing this was,i never asked for things. Up in the Adirondacks they have a "North Pole" with a Santa. I remember asking Santa for a flashlight for xmas. That's it. Just a flashlight. reason being, i had gotten in trouble for touching my Dad's. Needed one of my own. Even brought Santa a cookie. Bribing Santa? You bet. Use to leave hay for the Reindeer also. However my mom kinda got upset when i put it by the fireplace in the living room. My dad simply said "Reindeer don't come inside,you need to leave it outside". I was a handful. Good thing my dad thought the same way as me. Mom didn't get it.

Got through turkey day. Its 8.30 pm here when I was policing the fun domestics started.thats great about retirement no drunks domestics . I'm going to ride my vespa. On black Friday. It should be interesting.

I did ride on black Friday to do some errands.but I stuck to back streets.

Happily Thanksgiving day was warm and sunny here, the last two or three years we hoped for it to get as warm as the 20s F, this year it got to nearly 70 F. I was out at sunup 'twas only in the 30s however when I left the house, I rode aimlessly about my tri-county (Lancaster, Dauphin, Lebanon Pennsylvania) area for hours.
I returned home to put a turkey in oven and managed to enjoy a good beer and not ruin the food either.

Call it a good day.....
