Well, this Thanksgiving, I made ten pumpkin pies on Tuesday; eight deep dish and two standard. I have done this for several years and really enjoy it. We usually give a few away and I'm not sure what happens to the rest. I do know that between Tuesday night and Wednesday night, three were missing. I confess to dropping one face down on the kitchen floor, trying to juggle stuff in the fridge around to fit them in and still have room for the other food in there. I will tell you that two failed the square up test. Square up test you ask? That is when you cut out a slice of p.i.e (for the required taste-test to ensure quality control) and you realize the cut wasn't perfect because one side of the cut is longer than the other. Therefore, a squaring cut is required to achieve visual balance. Dang it, I cut too much so had to repeat the procedure...failing a bit with each cut until there was nothing left but the p.i.e pan. Now, understand that this is a traumatic experience for an amateur cook such as me. So, just like falling off a horse, I had to repeat the test on another p.i.e to prove that I was still the p.i.e master. Admittedly, the second squaring test took several hours due to lack of on board storage. It was like trying to stuff your carry-on bag into the overhead bin in an airplane. By the time I finished the second test, aluminum was all that could be seen. I happened to glance in the bathroom mirror and observed I had assumed the complexion of a pumpkin p.i.e. That would explain why I felt the need to smack my face with a dollop of cool-whip. So tasty. We had one p.i.e with dinner and gave a couple away. The remaining pies may very well fail any future testing but at this point, I will do no more than count the survivors. I hope I can sleep through the night and resist the urge to square. Sorry, I'm a Sag.

Yikes, all that squaring sounds traumatic!
Any room for dinner?

Math says you can never square the circle.

(Pi r^2) + (.14(Pi r^2))
That's as far as I've gotten.
