Modern Vespa

While I love the look of the stock GT60 seat, I don't like how it feels, nor do I like the riding position. So I decided to replace it with a Corbin GTS seat and added the removeable/adjustable backrest. Here's the "before" and "after" pics...the new seat is very comfortable and that backrest really locks you in! While the new seat isn't as "showy" as the stock, it seems far more functional.

Very nice. My wife would love that backrest.
What finishes did you choose. The Corbin website has a bewildering choice.

I went with the "classic" black leather with no stitching and the "classic" backrest (as opposed to their standard backrest with the hole in the center). Rather than ordering online, I called them. The rep was EXTREMELY helpful in ensuring I was ordering the right product. Mine arrived at my doorstep in about 2.5 weeks. I can probably find the paperwork and give you the exact product numbers if you wish. Let me know if that would be helpful.

Very nice seat! Did you specify the same fabric (leather) for both seating and side panels. Corbin recommends to use vinyl side panels in order to keep the seat in shape.

Nice looking seat. I love the back rest. I wish Corbin, or someone else, would make a seat with a back rest like that for the rider.

Regarding the side panels...I remembered reading that on their site and worrying how that would look...but I didn't ask for anything special (I'm certain that they even allow you to change to leather).

Frankly, I had forgotten about it...I certainly couldn't tell a difference between the vinyl side panels and the leather top when it arrived! Now that you reminded me, I'll take a closer look, but the standard set up seems to blend really well.

Also, I found the paperwork with the part numbers. Seat was item # V-GTS250-6 with a description number of "S/N: 2240939" and "Blk Lthr/Blk/No welt". The backrest was items "297-B" described as "Backrest-Standard with backing plate" :"Blk Lthr/Blk/no Welt"

After riding on it for a day or 2 I can attest that it is very comfortable...but it is a FIRM seat...but remember that it is a gel seat so it molds to the shape of your butt...so while may seem very firm at first, it is extremely comfortable.

Very nice, Doc. I noticed that Lucky changed his out right away and now you. After riding today I decided there is no way I could ride to Richmond on the stock seat.

May I ask, how long did it take?

I lasted about 500 miles before the change over.

The other thing that was bothersome about the stock seat was that it seems so damn slippery. The new seat really holds you in place...no more sliding around.

Having said all of that I am keeping the stock seat...if for no other reason than for resale value if I ever run into another "must have" scooter (and my wife insists I have to get rid of one to get on)...so sorry to all those who have sent me messages about my interest in selling the stock seat...

It looks like stitiching in your new seat, or is it just glued, what does Corbin mean by stitching?
