When purchasing my GT200 a few months ago the first thing that sprang to mind was to do something about that crusty exhaust asap.

There were two options;
* try and salavage the original exhaust (repainting it and getting a new heat shield).
* Buy a new aftermarket one.

Wel as you might have guessed I went with the latter option. It was just a question of which aftermarket exhaust. Wel after hearing a Vespa GTS and Piaggio MP3 pull away at the lights (both with Akra's) I knew what I wanted.

Problem was that Akrapovic didnt make an exhaust voor the GT. And from what I read most people said it wouldnt work. But I did remember a guy on youtube showing his GT fitted with an Akra. And in one of his comments he mentioned the need for the GTS exhaust manifold.

So as suggested I bought a used GTS 300 manifold adn was lucky enough to get a great deal on a used Akra.

With the exception of having to find a bung for the co sensor in the manifold it was an easy bolt on action.
*Note the plastic fairing will slightly hit the exhaust tip when the suspension is completely compressed. I've havent had issues though.

The GTS manifold with bung.

This is the bung I used.

The area between the tape is where is touches the exhaust tip when the suspension is totally compressed.

I havent had to adjust the carbs as far as jets are concerned, although I havent checked the plug yet. Everything seems to be running fine so far.

I checked the plug and it no bigger jet needed.

Also bought a new db-killer with a larger diameter opening (32mm) from SIP Scootershop. It has a much deeper sound without being much louder or obnoxious.

Try and set your rear shocks to maximum pre-spring-load, and if they all ready are then consider saving up for a good replacement.

I have Leovinci exhaust (simular shape as your akra) and with a duo on the back the same parts where rubbing like on your bike.
I swapped over the rear shocks and besides a better ride the heigt of the back increased more then enough so no more unwanted touching of parts any more going on there.

Thanks for the tip Bommes. I'm already looking at replacing the original shocks with Malossi's. Which shocks are you currently using?

Front and back Malossi.
I know they cost you an arm and leg but if your thinking about keepong the Vespa for a while they are well worth it.

For the rear

I have ordered the rear set here:

They had the best offering when I went shopping.

Oh and if you do not all ready have them installed you might consider a set off dr. Pulley sliders:

Fitted with some new 13" rims and Pirelli Evo tyres.
Bought the set already machined to fit the Vespa. Wheels are nicely centered and I had no issues mounting them.

I also fitted the older Piaggio crashbars but had to modify the mount on the exhaust side so it wouldnt hit the carbon tip on the Akra.

Thanks,

it's not just those wheels exactly but the 13inch concept is what I am after.
I would very much like to improve the top speed stability, now it's like riding a flying carpet on warp speed..
