For me, the top case is a matter of utility not looks. I don't mind the look though certainly the scooter would look nicer without it. However without the case I would have no place to put a helmet when parked, a medium pizza when coming home from work, an overnight bag when on a long trip. . .

I use the top case every day, so there's no reason to take it off. YMMV

That's pretty slick!

...and I took mine off earlier this week because my commute is over until late August and I'm shallow and think it looks faster and badasser without it.

...also, swear it felt more stable on Tuesday's four-hour, hella-windy ride, but maybe that's just my imagination...or the fact that my skills have become ninja sharp.

...yeah, prolly imagination.
If you don't have heavy bar end weights, a top case can cause instability at speed.

TDRAKE i put my helmet in it's soft carry bag and attach the strings to the helmet clip under the seat, It hangs over the side. Someone can easily cut the string and steal it but if they want it that bad they can have it. I'm going to have to do something different when my Fusar camera comes this Sept, tho. Will do what K2 does. Take it off and put in in the pet carrier.

Doesn't open quite as big but collapses to a smaller flatter size

I have one I use sometimes and will probably use it on the cannonball since it shouldn't interfere with opening and closing the seat and provide a bit of a backrest.

The Vespa top cases come with heavier bar end weights.

I think I have the heavier ones, but it's really more a matter of getting hit by high crosswinds. We're sort of on what's more or less a prairie here, between large mountain ranges, so this time of year there are fairly constant, shifting 8-10 mph winds, with lots of much heavier gusts.

But I'm really not sure the box was making all that much of a difference. Still, I like how it looks without it and I did -- duh! -- realize the pet carrier has a helmet hook.

Also, since I'm used to walking to work all these years I'm used to carrying a backpack, and I think that's more practical for me than the top box.

But it's also mighty cool how you can get the box on and off in about two minutes! Hats off to whoever made that design...almost makes up for whoever designed the oil change so stupidly.

I go back and forth on the top case. If the decision were simply looks, it would be easy: no top case.

However, every time I take my top case off, I find that I need it: my modular Schuberth C3 helmet with matching bluetooth SRC-System will not fit in the pet carrier, but it will fit in the top case--and I am not about to hang more than $600 worth of gear on a flimsy plastic hook and then walk away, for hours at a time.

Ordered a new black GTS300 (not super) last weekend and also specc'ed a matching top box just because the helmet does not fit under the seat. Trouble is for some reason the dealer is struggling to source the black box with the matching 'creme' colour pad. Looks like I will be picking up the scooter minus the top box later this week.

Get the top case. It does look great and you'll have space to hold items when you need it. I go grocery shopping with my top case and I love it. When in not riding it stores my helmet.

I have a Givi top case and I love it. If you don't want to use it you can just pop it off. The Italian design fits the Vespa line beautifully.

. Nice color, chrome rims and a front chrome rack would go nicely with that red.

Thank you! I've contemplated the front rack.
