I just wanna resurrect this thread to give a solid "Thank you". Almost 3 years ago I was browsing through the forum when the name of this thread caught my eye. Then the thought crossed my mind that I should draw a Vespa, or st least the logo, on an Etch A Sketch. That was exactly the little 🔥 I needed to pick up my all but forgotten artistic ambitions. Happy to say that I haven't put the Etch a Sketch down since. In fact, I'm paying for my new (well, to me) 2015 GTS Super with the money from the sale of my 3 most recent drawings. (One of which was commissioned by Warner Music UK and purchased by none other than Muse's Matt Bellamy- I'm having it sent off to the other side of the pond on Monday.) So again, thank you all for the inspiration to get my butt drawing again. Not to mention the quality of the work here is absolutely stunning.

I'm aiming towards freelance illustration work, coming off the back of years as a general graphics worker. The stuff I've posted in this thread has mostly been exercises and personal projects. Some has evolved into merch for DoubleGood.co.uk

But the thread's open to all-comers: old hands and newbies and everyone inbetween. Variety is what makes it tick along, and we never get tired of looking at pictures of scooters, right? Scooter emoticon

ok, last one!

This is another portfolio piece. Beginning with a rough sketch, then re-drawing in vector art, and finally working over in traditional style lineart.

It became a badge at first. Focussing on just the rider and the handlebars...

More recently I got around to extending the main illustration. I finished up the scene in full linework, adding the scooter, road and landscape. Turned out pretty good.

Thanks! Sometimes I've been staring at these for so long it becomes difficult to get a fix on how well they turned out.

This one is quite recent. I'll get a better handle on it after I've left it alone for a while.

Not an actual drawing, but you could call it art. My first lithophane print, on my 3d printer. Just add light behind it...

That's pretty cool. I'm assuming the shading is done by different thicknesses of the print, right?

Here's some new scooter artwork from me celebrating the smallframe Vespas. T-shirts with this design are up in the DoubleGood collection at Redbubble: https://www.redbubble.com/people/DoubleGood/portfolio

The drawing here is based on the original Vespa Primavera 125. There aren't any sketches to show this time, I approached it more like a technical drawing and drew it directly in vector lines.

Of course I got the pencil. I had the original iPad Pro. Most of my drawing is on Good old paper with drawing pencils or watercolor pencils. I like the Inktensepencils vest. . I go through periods where I will draw a fair bit then not touch anything for months or more. Mostly I do birds and animals. For some reason I have trouble with vehicles. I'm not even close to the same league as zhe rest of you
This is probably my best watercolor pencil drawing.

^^^ That's lovely work.

I don't do so much paper drawing these days. For digital drawing I have an early Wacom graphics tablet. Sometimes there's a certain sense of disconnection between making the marks on the tablet and the lines appearing on the monitor. I imagine that drawing directly on the display, with a device like the Cintiq or iPad Pro, might feel more natural.

I hear you on the Wacom and disconnect. Escondido are lovely tablets but unless it was a Cintiq they never worked for me. I've used a Windows tablet PC since 2004 My first one was a Toshiba a d the digitizer was a Wacom. I could use any of the Wacom pens and apps but m stay used it for note taking and whiteboard. Last two have been Surface Book Pros. While I have aMacbook Pro I preferWindows for my primary System. Drawing with the new iPad Pro that has the USB C port and wireless charging pencil is a considerable improvement over the earlier iPad Pros. Not quite the same as paper but much closer see than a separate graphics tablet.

Nice artwork. I prefer the top image, probably because I prefer the side profile rather than the face-on angle.

Yes, a girl! If you had more product geared towards the woman rider, I'd jump on the chance to add it to my growing scooter-themed collection of goodies. Messenger bag and vee neck t-shirt set anyone?

Duly noted! Most of these images are not really conceived as merchandise, just drawings I make.

Most banners detract from the site. Yours improves it.

I do quite a bit a real Drawing, but not this one. I do a lot of Graphic Design & 3D Illustration. I earn my keep as a Web Designer.

This was created using 3-D Modeling Software & Photoshop in 2002 and published in Scoot Magazine for 3 issues. Buzz never did rescue her...
