HA, I was thinking that the closest zombie needed a rondel tattoo! I like the 'Undead Scooter Club' concept. 'Club Morto' or 'Club di non Morti' (blame Google Translate).

I checked and both of the tshirts that i got from Redbubble are DoubleGood (Ironfoot) not copies. Nice to know I'm supporting an artist who's a fan of Vespas 🛵

It's a copy, obviously. And yes, it's my Vespa Wasp emblem originally. Maybe you could remove the picture and the link from your post? There's no good in promoting it.

That wasp design has been ripped off all over the internet and the copies always suck.

Not only are the copies printed from lower resolution images (they don't have the full source artwork like I do), they often manage to balls up the design in some clumsy way. That one posted earlier has the tips of the wings clipped for example. I've seen cases where the entire image has been colour inverted. Sometimes they crudely paint over the watermark, sometimes they just leave it there. Sometimes they change the words, put their own club name on in misaligned text. On and on, with the second rate bodges.

The single best place to get that emblem on a garment is via the official DoubleGood account on Redbubble:

Scooter and reclining figure

I tried a different approach for this new project. It took several days to finish but I'm condensing the process into the next few posts.

I wanted to make an illustration with a figure sitting on the ground and leaning up against a scooter. I sometimes used to sit like this when I took my old GTS on rides into the countryside or when I went on scooter camping trips with my wife.

This is a simple thumbnail sketch to get the idea down on paper.

How to set up a composition when you don't have a life model to sit for you? Sometimes I sketch figures from memory and work them over and over until they look ok. That's how I made the zombies on the previous page. But sometimes I prefer a more concrete starting point like a photograph.

How to draw a scooter when you no longer own one? Highly engineered objects like bikes and cars tend to look a bit cartoony when I draw them from memory, and I usually prefer a more accurate style, so I will seek out reference pictures for the scooter in this project too.

A traditional approach to aid drawing a human figure is an artist's mannequin - a small poseable wooden doll - but I don't have one of those handy either. Instead, I'm going to dip into the world of 3D graphics to set up a reference model for my 2D illustration...

The software I'm using here is called DAZ 3D. I used a female figure included in the program, plus a low poly 3D scan of a Vespa LX which I downloaded separately.

All the joints on the figure, right down to the finger tips, are fully articulated. They can be bent, twisted, moved back and forth. Alas, typing in "Please sit on the ground and lean against the scooter" achieves nothing. Every joint must be manually edited to get things in place.

After wrestling with dozens of control points the figure was eventually set nicely beside the scooter. Then I could pick a viewpoint to use as the base for my illustration. I took a screenshot of the scene and then put the 3D software aside.

I brought the screenshot into my 2D graphics program. Now, with the composition and proportions all taken care of, I could begin making the illustration. From here it's familiar territory. Drawing in vector lines, creating the hair, clothes and boots, and building up the artwork layer by layer.

I'm calling this finished for now, but I think it may have further potential.

If you can take it down, pm me and I'll send you the link of the store...

I don't think I can get them taken down. There are so many pirated copies of that design on the internet. I've been aware of them for a few years and I don't go looking anymore. The sellers don't know or care where the work originates.

It's a reality of sharing images online. Artworks get separated from their authors. Perhaps the only thing to do is try to point people back to the original work, but that's not always possible.

I was wondering if Ironfoot had done any Christmas or holiday scooter drawings? Then I thought, maybe I would give it a shot. It didn't go so well. LOL.

EDIT:One of the spirits from A Christmas Carol? I would need to change the headlight though.

Christmas? Still looks like Halloween.

I completely disagree with every single thing you say

Here's some new artwork I've made lately. The character is Juliette from the film The French Dispatch. Mostly she hangs out in cafés and debates politics. She has a Motobécane moped and wears her riding outfit all the time.

Juliette's moped is a Mobylette from French manufacturer Motobécane

https://www.mopedarmy.com/wiki/Mobylette

The model used in The French Dispatch appears to be a 1960s/70s Mobylette AV89, possibly with a few non-standard parts pinched from other bikes. The custom saddle looks very much like a Vespa seat. Most would call it a single seat - Timothée Chalamet struggles to climb on as a pillion in the film - but there are passenger footpegs mounted to the chainstays.

I've been making a line drawing of the Mobylette over the last couple of days:

I'm not sure if Andy already posted this, but he surprised me once with a drawing of my GTS and me. He did it on an iPad and somehow recorded the process.

Here's the video:

Nice to see this video again. A great example of how things are drawn and redrawn many times in the course of making an illustration.

Not a scooter but my daughter-in-law did this pencil drawing of my 1949 Harley-Davidson a few years ago. This was her first attempt at drawing something mechanical. She usually draws wildlife or cowboy/cowgirl themed art. Her dad was a PRCA cowboy and she loves to rodeo herself. The second drawing is a self portrait she did from a photo someone took of her barrel racing. The amount of detail in her drawings amazes me.

Yeah, these are fantastic. I especially like the last one, there's so much for the eye to pore over

I've drawn the Juliette character again and placed her alongside the Mobylette...
