In short i had a necessary oil change while on vacation. Without tools or place to work on it was just easier to bring to a mechanic.

The following day and without checking out the mechanics work i went on a 300 km ride mostly at WOT ...

When i got back i checked the oil level ( level surface and engine stopped for a good 10-20 min ) and noticed that it was about 1" over the top of the fill line.

So what happens next ? Will i see blown seals down the road or any other damage i could have done ?

Yes i took out the excess oil.

Can the Sprint take that kind of abuse without damage ?
Is overfilling not as bad as fellow members describe ?

comments welcome !

Doesn't sound like much. If it's not leaking now you're OK.

Kdude, an inch over is quite a bit too much oil. However, bluecloud is right. If it isn't leaking now it's probably going to be fine. The only thing I'd do is check the airfilter to make sure excess oil hasn't been sucked into the air filter box. that's not good and will need to be cleaned out if it has. This can and does happen when an engine is overfilled, especially when run at wot. Overfilling is always bad, but it doesn't necessarily mean you'll have trouble later. But check on oil often to make sure you are not losing any and check for leaks on a regular basis for a while. Moral here is always check your oil after the bike has been serviced. I'd also tell your dealer who did the service what they did.

Thanks for your replies. Your spot on , i went on another 200km plus ride yesterday again 90 % at WOT and almost always starting off the line aggressively and no leaks. I have to mention that once i took the excess oil out (I used a large syringe ) the motor sounds a lot quieter and is running better.

Happy ending
